    Can't Stay In Ketosis

Here is my problem, I have been on a ketogenic diet for awhile now, I eat around 15 grams of carbs a day. I love the way being in ketosis makes me feel. It usually takes around 2-3 days for me to get into ketosis after a carb up, but here is my problem, lately i can get into ketosis easily in 2-3 days but on the fourth day I am out of it all night then usually come back into it the next day. Then during that day im back into it, it weird, why would my body be going in and out of ketosis so quickly when im not uping the carbs at all? Its seems like its getting harder and harder for me to stay in ketosis even without uping the carbs. Any reason for the or any suggestions?

Too much protein can cause this.

Protein can be converted to Glucose.

Drop the Protein a tad and increase fats.

An average day for me is around 180 grams of protein, 100 grams of fat, and 13-15 grams of carbs. I know im in and out of ketosis by the way I feel, taste of metal in my mouth, and keto sticks. But mostly keto sticks, They are pink all day then over night negative.

First thing in the morning is not the best time to try, and nothing showing on the sticks doesn't mean your out of ketosis, just real low on ketone's. Your fat content is way too law, 65% fat, 35% protein is about the same as equal grams of fat and protein.
"No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable" - Socrates 400BC

    65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

Honestly I don't believe you are actually going in and out, unless there is something you are not telling us, or if you are unknowingly sleep walking and eating at night. (it has happened)

Just be sure to stay as close to 65/30/5 as possible, and i'm sure you'll always be producing ketones and stay in ketosis.

Get that fat intake wayyyy up. You want protein and fat grams per day to be almost equal.

Ha i might be sleep walking and eating. Good thing I only keep foods that are on my diet in my house so I cant get too far of course with that. from what people are saying Im not eating enough fat and my protein is being turned into glucose. I do take a reading when I first wake up so maybe im just running really low on ketones and not actually completely out.

    I'm inclined to agree....

Ketostix are not a reliable method for testing whether or not you are actually IN Ketosis anyway.....do a search for info about that, there's plenty.
