i have a guy i know selling a ironmaster im2000 for $175 is this a good deal.

Several people on this site have made glowing comments about that particular Smith. Some of them really know their stuff. If you want a Smith machine and it's in good shape, it's a great deal.

ive used the IM2000 a few times. it is very smooth (as smooth or smoother than any smith ive ever used). it is very efficient with space and gives you a bunch of posts for weight storage. plus it has the high and low pully as well. $175 is crazy good. grab it.

if you dont like it then you could surely sell it for more than that anyway.

i went ahead and bought it. i love it. it is blue and looks really good in my gym. i ended up getting it for $160 which is worth it just for the plate storage if nothing else. also the bar locks differntly than other smith machines which i like.
