I think the problem was A., he got typecast as Anakin Skywalker by the Star Wars prequels and B., he was absolute ass in said typecasting role. Episode 2 killed his career.

He could have been so GOAT. Dude is fukkin perfect as the lead in The Mummy, like the definition of "semi-srs".
