Losing Motivation After 4 Years...
I don't why, I'm just not feeling it anymore like I use to. I use to get a lot of pleasure going to the gym, now it just seems like it's a chore. Going through the pain period and trying to keep on top of my diet 24/7 just makes me want to quit. I have gone from 125 lbs. to 195 lbs. since I started, with a 4% increase in bodyfat, so it's not like I have failed with bodybuilding. Depression could be the reason, relationship issues with girls haven't been working out too well for me lately and it has me down pretty good...I don't find pleasure in the things I use to anymore. I've never had a relationship last more than a couple of weeks and I'm 23. I'm told I'm an attractive guy too, but this **** is getting to me.
I don't know, maybe I need to take a break from the gym. I just don't know what to do.
Anyone else go through this from time to time? How do you recover?

Miscing since 2006
Everyone goes through this from time to time. The key is to start applying the muscle mass you're building in the gym to other activities. Find stuff to do outside of the gym that gets you out in a social atmosphere and allows you to enjoy the summer.
For example, you could join a softball team or kayaking or rock climbing or any number of other activities. This will allow you to train for a specific purpose other than vanity. I've told my clients many times over the years that it has to be about more than just looks.
As far as the relationship stuff goes don't sweat that either. You're still young. Having relationships only last a few months at that age is totally normal. Just be patient and keep striving to be the best YOU that you can be. Eventually the right person will come along and appreciate all the hard work you've been doing.
The answer is to never be full of sh!t.
Follow my blog as I write my way to the top and document the whole fukking thing...

Thanks for the advice bro. Yeah, I need to start up some new hobbies to keep my mind off of everything else.

Bro. I know I'm new to the site but I know this is good advice.
I was actually getting b.s from my gf at the time ABOUT working out. She was complaining that I was too obsessed with getting fit and instead of hitting the gym, I could've been spending time with her. Apparently my 25% body fat at the time wasn't enough evidence for her that I needed to hit the gym rather than sit on my arse all night watching Cake Boss and Teen Mom with her.
I was just so... stressed with work, school, money, girlfriend..
After we finally broke up, I just didn't know what to do, I felt like.. what's the point but after finding stuff about out skating lessons, soccer leagues, etc, I found people who are fit, and there are definitely.. definitely girls who are into that stuff.
My skating teacher is 1 cute girl.

I feel you man, sometimes its hard to get motivated
Iv been doing it so many years now sometimes a just take break from it all, 2-3 weeks and enjoy life. You end up fired up again after a few weeks off.
Also over training can make you feel like that, something to consider

Unconquerable Soul
I get like this when im stressed out. It's usually something in my life I'm procrastinating about or avoiding that I need to handle. Try to get things all straightened out and relax, your passions will come back.

Just a gym rat
How often do u workout bro? How often do u mix things around..
I find the best way to stay motivated is to keep things to look forward to..
So right now i have a massage planned for 6 more weeks..That'll mean after every 3 months of training im gonna get myself a nice deep tissue massage to loosen up all those joints and pamper myself..And thats just one thing..
You might find you are spending too much time in the gym or too much time concentrating on ur diet..Live a little man..
I was once obsessed just like u sound bro..I was so crazy about eating 3 hours apart 6 times a day etc..But in the end u just cant live 100% strict coz u are gonna eventually fall apart..
One thing that helped me is to prioritize and fic time management..
I decided that in the mornings before anyone else woke up was the best time for me to do my workouts..It bothers noone else and you dont have to cut ur workout short to go pick up ur gf or grab some milk for dinner etc..You just go in there, do your thing and then come home..U wake up happier and with more energy..
Then you have that beautiful feeling of accomplishing something before anyone is even awake..If ur interested come join the MWC man, we are a friendly bunch of ppl and will help u with various aspects of morning workouts..
Another thing is to not spend all ur time on one activity..Get some hobbies, go hire a movie or a game..Pig out on some popcorn or a big protein shake..Get involved with the community even..
One thing i have learnt from being a former addict is that there are people out there who are willing to help you..all u gotta do is ask..Through me a PM whenever and i can guide you through any other problemos u mite have bro!

Ya..a little depression will do that to ya...But the good thing is that you have identified the problem and are willing to fix it. So where do you start? Start with 'why' you want to get back in the swing of things...From your note above, it seems that you have achieved some good gains in the past and understand that it will take a great deal of hardwork again to not only get it all back, but to exceed your wildest dreams...But what you need to do is to reflect on how you felt when you 1st started going back to the gym and when you achieved your goals of reaching 125 and a little pumped...Do you remember that feeling? If not, take a second and think about it again....Got that feeling now ? Cool....
Now you need to figure of what you want to achieve. Look at magazines, internet pics and etc. Find someone you wouldn't mind looking like....(e.g. I chose Vin Diesel)...Maybe yours would be Mark Whalberg...or heck maybe even Kimbo Slice. Your laughing now right? Kimbo? Ya Kimbo... The sky is the limit and this is "your dream"...Don't let anybody tell you that you cannot become Kimbo (as an example). Because you can - but this doesn't happen overnight of coarse. Now change you desktop picture from the beach to Kimbo(as an example), so you can see it everyday...
After you got your goal/public figure, you now need to figure out the 'why' you want to reach the goal. Is it because of health reasons? Ladies are not coming up to you like they used to? Is it something more deeper in your past? Think about it...and write it down. If there are multiple of reasons, then those things should be written down too. keep this paper with you at all times to remind you of 'why'...
So now you got the why and the goal...next is the plan....You probably heard of the saying...."If you fail to plan, you plan to fail" I know it sounds cliche, but it's true....Get a plan out there (insanity, p90x, RTP or whatever)...research them, get the program and 'start it'.
Also get involved in more sports..baseball, hockey, tennis, rollerblading, etc..etc...Join groups and get involved....If you are sitting on the couch and doing nothing, how do expect to pickup chicks??? I say this to my single bud all the time and he's 33 yrs old...All he wants to do is smoke-up on the couch and complain that he get's no girls....- ah duuhh - get off your butt and find them, because they're not looking for you on your couch!!) After saying that 6 months ago and seeing how I was progressing, he finally got off the couch and is back in the gym with the program that I suggested.....
It's time to make a change to your lifestyle my freind to a healthier one. And it starts with today. Tomorrow you will be happy that you made a change today. Trust me...I was sitting at 25% fat 11 months ago...Now I'm reaching 5% fat and feel pretty darn good...If I didn't make the change 11 months ago, I would be in the same horrid state and wouldn't be writing this long-a$$ message in a forum....I'm living proof that with hard work, persistence and a lot of patience - your dreams(of becoming like Kimbo ) will come true.
If I can do it...you can too..especially at your ripe age...I'm 34 and married and sometimes feel that I'm going against the grain at my age...You're young...take advantage of your youth.
Cheers and cheer up!
Life only gets better if you make it better...

Oh don't worry,it's just you coming to the realization that all the working out, dieting, supplementing bull**** is just that,BULL****
Who cares if you got abs or a big chest or whatever your goal may be,once you attain said goal, then it DOES become a chore, because while it may take 2 years to get great looking abs or 18 inch biceps, all it takes is a week of actually enjoying it to lose it

Cheap OPERATOR
Funks happen.
Take a week or two off, slack on the diet and do some HiiT at different parks in the area...you will run into many different people, break the monotony, have some fun again, and maybe find another hobby.
