Smokeless Tobacco and Weight Loss/Muscle Gain

I am aware of heath concerns related to dip, but will it cause me to lose weight? Will stop me from gaining as much muscle as I could?

The only thing I've noticed is it curbs hunger for about a half hour after I dip. So I guess theoretically if you have a dip in all day it'll help you cut calories. But as far as energy, It tends to drain me and cause drowsiness as nicotine normally does.

Most stimulants curb appetite, nearly any diet pill with various stims would be a far better option than dip.

Yes, you'll gain alot of weight if you quit tobacco. Nicotine, especially at high doses like smokeless tobacco, is an apitite suppressent. I weened off of it by switching to 4 mg Nicotine gum.

Not necessarily true. While I agree that people tend to put on some weight while quitting tobacco, it most certainly is not a given. During a time of quitting one just needs to be extra cautious as to not suppress their nicotine cravings with food.

    My two cents.

Yeah, but that's hard to do. My appetite skyrocketed when I quit tobacco. But you're right though, it probably varies quite a bit from person to person, and someone exercising more disipline wouldn't gain as much fat. I quit when I was 33, and I was dipping about 2 cans of Copenhagen a day. So the sudden depletion of nicotine combined with my age definately contributed to my weight gain. It also didn't help that, not only wasn't I working out, but I had an extreme fetish for ice-cream and pizza, lol.

To the OP, it can help. Obviously you know the health risks so I won't bore you with that

IIRC I did a speech on the subject of dip and appetite suppression was a "benefit" that I found in some literature. Its helped me before, not something I'd recommend to anyone using though

While I have found dip to be a decent appetite suppressant, I also recently learned that one dip contains a high level of sucrose. So maybe it's neutral?
