I'll put the economics aside for now i'll let you guys discuss that. When I was 16 I began working at a Mcdonalds for 7.25 an hour while going to High School. Now i'm getting paid 14 an hour working at a bank, while attending a Uni to better myself. I didn't expect Big government to come in and save me. wth?

There are too many lazy people out there. Why work harder to get a new job, when you can work the same shiity job and get more from your employer?

Higher minimum wage = more money owed for simply showing up.
Working somewhere and being employed somewhere are different things. I know many employees, very few workers. Employees want higher minimum wages.Misc Firearms Crew

You are so unaware of how economics works, how you have such high reps with posts like this god only knows.
If you raise the minimum wage hire, its the people who are already at a disadvantage who become effected,
The naturally slower worker will suffer. It will not become profitable for a business to hire these people so they will let them go.
This might help

Let me drop some perspective on you Bruce
Liberals endlessly natter on about how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and that’s not fair that some people can fly first class while others cant afford cars. What liberals don’t acknowledge is the many years of hard work and sacrifice that are usually needed to create a rich person.
Why is it unfair for a rich person to make lots of money? Imagine if a young woman, Noelle, gets rich after working 40 hours a week to pay for college – and studying another 40 hours each week. now imagine if this young lady went to high school with Jack, a guy who decided not to go to college or get a decent job, and who never did anything to develop marketable skills.
Ten years later, Jack is lucky to find work sweeping up at McDonald’s. Noelle has a Park Avenue penthouse. Is that unfair? Not on your life! Noelle’s own work and self-sacrifice made her wealthy.
But how would a liberal view this scenario...? Predictably.
A liberal view would immediately label Noelle a member of the “fortunate few,” and conclude that she should be punished for her high income by being made to pay high taxes for social welfare programs – which go to benefit poor old Jack. At the ballot box, liberals can count on Jack for political support, because, obviously, Jack is happy to get a piece of Noelle’s income.
Conservatives look at this same situation and understand Noelle gets paid more not because she is lucky or because the system doesn’t work, but because it does!
Her skills and personal qualities (determination, perseverance) paid off in the marketplace.
Nothing unfair about that.MFC

That was originally accurate, but an increasing amount of what used to be middle class jobs are automated away. So an increasing proportion of the population is going to be on minimum wage jobs, only avoiding hunger and homelessness through government benefits. Its a systemic problem, and there is no easy fix.
Keep in mind that in any society there will always be high and low achievers, and that successful societies make a way for low achievers to at least survive. Unless you are proposing letting them starve, us high achievers will need to think of a solution. When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

If you want to get paid more in your minimum wage job, seek out advancement opportunities. One of my very close friends started working in the fast food industry at 16 making $5.15/hr (minimum wage at that time). 12 years later, he's making $100K+ as a regional supervisor and in a position to buy into the franchise.
It's not as though he's an outlier. Advancement is possible in literally every job if you put in the work and gain the know-how. In my experience, people just aren't willing to work hard to get paid. They honestly believe working a 10-12 hour day is a long day; they don't do it very often, but when they do, they call it "working a double." Lazy bums want $15/hr to do nothing but flip a burger or refill a coke for 5-6 hrs a day.

we need to reduce minimum wage so that companies have greater profits. all this extra money will give them the option to hire more workers, which will in turn increase their profits and so on. these profits are passed on from the few to the many by way of the discretionary spending of the boss. he buys cars and boats. then the boat salesman buys tvs and video games. the factory worker buys a cup and ball.
the way you become a boss is by working hard. you study hard in high school, get a solid undergrad, go to a top b-school. the difference between the boss and the factory worker is the boss worked harder. by "work harder" i might also mean "work smarter". the factory worker might very well be more diligent, physically stronger, and he might even be more intelligent. but he didnt set himself on a career path that would maximize his compensation, so he's incurred this opportunity cost through poor choices. As a nation we've incentivised these poor choices by subsidizing the poor.

This is about quality of quantity
Would you rather have 3 people who don`t earn a living wage at their jobs and need foodstamps on top of their pay?
or 1 person who earns enough not to suck on the governments teet and two people who are get full assistance because they're unemployed?
Its fukking sad that large corporations don't do the right thing but instead the underhanded profit maximizing thing.Their profit margin wouldn't be as large(although it's still fukking humongous) but they can provide people with enough money to make a living wage.
