If women wanted to just be "treated equal" most men would have no problems with it. Instead they want all the perks but none of the consequences.
For example I'm sure they don't want to be free game to get hit back when they hit a man.
When they finally get the "equality" they are looking for they will probably still use lame ass excuses like "their emotions caused it" or "it was because of PMS"Goals for Summer '13

Men shouldn't have equal rights simply because they don't want equal rights. They want more then equal. They want superiority based on gender..
See what i did there? See how it makes no sense?
Wow, you're angry I've countered everything you've said and now you can't think of anything else to say so you're insulting me?

First off, this forum really isn't the place to have a serious discussion such as this one. The misc is Chauvanist Central. Makes me think the OP made this thread to cause a flamewar.
As far as my recent argument, a world history full of examples as well as idiots like Paris Hilton isn't enough I guess.
Personally, I think everyone, not just women should be required to take an IQ test that determines certain rights such as voting. If you're a trailer trash redneck bitch with 6 kids on a 2k a month income and welfare, you don't need to be deciding the direction this country is taken. Then again, I have always supported controlled eugenics.http://www.alanaragon.com/

i think the problem with equal rights is that feminists will always want equal rights in certain aspects of life, and they try to fight and nit-pick for certain things
woman want equal pay in the workforce, however the workforce is not equal in terms of man vs. woman. there are no garbagewoman for example, nor are there female construction workers. i'm not arguing that women deserve to be paid less, i'm pointing out that the workforce is not equal as a whole, so women arguing certain things need to be equal are also forgetting many other variables.
i think women should have "equal rights" when looked at as a person individually. but you can call me chauvinistic, i do not think women in general are equal across the board. logical thinking, brute power, work ethics, etc. are things that come to mind when you think about things that many women simply do not have. i know there are two sides of the story and many men dont have those things, but it's far more evident in women

being strong still helps in the 21st century for labouring jobs. women could never do a job like bricklaying, mining, working on oil rigs or out as fishermen as good as men can.
Women don't get paid as much as men because instead of going into fields like engineering a lot of women get involved in fields like education and nursing, or social sciences which don't pay as much as the math/science fields.
Men have an advantage with labour jobs but women have an advantage with administration jobs so it kind of equals itself out.
Women have a role to give birth and raise children, whilst men have the role of being a breadmaker. This has been the case throughout the entire history of mankind because gender differences will never end in perfect equality.
They should be equal, but realistically it isn't difficult to figure out why they aren't- that is becaues both genders are built for different purposes.

All joking aside...
Women for the most part do have equal rights in most social institutions (School, organizations..etc). The main institution in which women are behind in men is in the WorkPlace. Women in current times make only 77 cents to every male dollar. This isn't to say that a woman is inferior to a man, it is just how society has evolved over the centuries.
Before Industrialization and the Horticulture area, women and men were both treated as equal, as soon as the horticulture area came to be, men's work was valued as higher due to it's physical demands. Women were the nurtures at this time. As the industrialization period commenced, women stayed home to take care of the household duties as opposed to men, which went to go work full time.
I don't know if you guys know this, but a woman taking on the role of home care provider has been calculated a "mock" salary based on the amount of work and difficulty. A few universities and labs have concluded that if housewives were paid for their daily "wife/mother" duties, they would be making Over 100k a year.
It isn't that women are mentally handicapped compared to men, our society just continues to "go with the flow" of past times. That is why there are more women in college and more women graduate college than men. Why do you all think it is "taboo" for a man to become a teacher or a nurse? because those two professions are considered "nurturing" jobs, which is what women are correlated to be.
Men that say "if women want equal rights, then they deserve to be punched just as a man is".... my rebuttal to that is, That is a domestic disturbance, you should face consequences regardless.

Of course there's nothing wrong with women having equal rights as men, all humans on this earth are equals.
But all jobs and etc should be awarded to someone based on ability, you should not use force to make someone give a female a job which she could not do half as well as a man as this would force the business owner to engage in charity. Now there's nothing wrong with charity, but most business owners are not in a position to do this.
You would be very naive if you fail to see the negative effects giving women the right to vote has had. The role of women used to be to take care of the young and old, so it was inevitable that they would immediately start voting for more and more welfare systems and consequently crippling economies.

This.
Women DO have equal rights.
The problem is that they also want equal OUTCOME.
NO ONE should be guaranteed equal outcome. The best person for the job should GET it. Plain and simple. It makes more production and a better product.
You should never have to hold men back or not hire men just because SALLY want's to be a firewoman...even though she can't carry the damn hose or run it for half the time a man can.
Have fun burning alive because SALLY got her EQUAL RIGHTS bullshyt.

Society deems that a more modern and civilised, or perhaps progressive action is to slowly make people equal. However like some people have already said, we are not equal at all. Men and women were built for different things genetically. Although i think the right to vote/equal pay thing is alright.
