The good thing about ketogenic diets is that fats are cheaper than proteins !!

Hello all, since we are living in economic recessions the good thing about the keto diet is that i think that it is a diet which is a lot cheaper and require less spending than the high protein, low-fat diets. Because fats like butter, oil, bacon are a lot cheaper than the calories from foods high in protein like fish, chicken breasts, egg whites and whey protein powder

    Really? You think so?

With the types of foods I eat, my food bill has been more expensive.

Cream (go through a pint a week now), eggs...I eat a dozen or more a week, and I get cage free, free range eggs...which arent the cheapest. I eat at least a whole chicken a week, hamburger, broccoli is a crack habit...oils.

I dont know...my food bill is higher.

Everything you post is borderline retarded. Keto consumes just as much protein as every other diet, very slightly less than your typical bodybuilder's cutting diet.

I followed a low fat, low-moderate carb cycle, high protein diet for 4 months. It was very expensive. So far I am finding that a ketogenic diet is equally as expensive.

It all really depends on where and how you're buying your products.

As awful and unethically sound to buy from Walmart; I do all the time because I just can't afford eggs that are 25 cents each. Bacon is extremely cheap as well, as most of the other pork products.

Most vegetables are somewhat cheap if you buy in bulk but you have to also eat in bulk and sometimes that's where costs build up.

So for the first month of Keto where you really want to be fat heavy, I agree; it's a lot cheaper but you lose the bulk of the fat you're going to want to peter out of the fat game and get into the solid protein gain.

On the other side of the fat spectrum, there's cream, Olive Oil, fatty cuts of fish, beef, and then whole nuts such as cashews, almonds, peanuts aren't exactly cheap. It all kind of depends on what your goals and budget are

But hey, no reason to flame. He sounded confident but maybe he didn't know as much as he thought.

i would say that keto is much cheaper than low fat, high protien and carb diet. burgers, bacon, cream, cheese, etc are much cheaper than chicken breast and bags of pasta.

steak is probably the most expensive food i buy on keto

How come the expensive eggs?(Just curious) I understand they are slightly superior nutritionally but are you not supplementing with a multi-v and fish oil?

Convenience on any diet comes at a price. If you are budget conscience, there are enough tools/information at your disposal to find the best prices possible.

Shop around and buy in bulk when things are on sale. In the end, it all evens out.
