More training = more cellulite?
Hi I'm 21, 5"7 and weigh about 55kgs. Have always been thin and over the last 2 or 3 years have gained from 48kgs. I still want to gain more weight but am curious about something first.
It seems the more I train the looser my skin is getting - like I'm starting to see a cellulitey look on the top of my knees and bum. I'm wondering if this is just an age thing or what? Since I haven't gained any new weight in the past 2 months and it seems like more and more of it is appearing.
Can anyone help me out with this?
Thanks

Not sure the exact reason, but I notice this on some of my clients as they start weight training. My guess would be that your muscle starts to build under the fat, which pushs the fat more towards the surface. Keep training, drinking plenty of water, eating clean, doing your cardio and it will lesson as your metabolism kicks in.

What kind of training are you doing? I have found the opposite to be true, that the more I train (I weight lift), the less cellulite.

Same here: the more I train the better my butt looks and the firmer it gets. No cellulite at all, lucky me.

Bulking
Looser skin and more cellulite sounds like fat gains. You may be gaining weight too quickly.

I've noticed that when starting at a higher bodyfat and aiming to lose fat, your skin will appear looser and more cellulite will be visible before it firms up again.
Now, if youre eating over maintenance calories, youre possibly starting to gain too quickly.
Or you may not be drinking enough water, or you ARE drinking enough water, but you havent in the past and your body gets a tad overloaded.
Kinda varies with what exactly youve been doing.

I gained about 3 kgs in 3 months eating about 2700 maybe more. Now I'm eating probably 2000 and have lost about a kilo (while still lifting heavy & increasing my weights), but have noticed my skin going a bit looser. It's quite weird coz my stomach is becoming more defined but the skin just above my knees and my bum is looser..?!

Yes, when you lose fat your skin takes awhile to shrink. This can be helped by gaining more muscle to fill it in. When leaning out you can also lose fullness in your muscles which can also contribute to the loose skin and cellulite look. What it all means is that after you lean out a bit you need to go back to bulking.

i, personally, notice more cellulite after an only-cardio session....when i lift only (i'm talking about lower body training) i have lots less cellulite than only-cardio days...

your cellulite amount isn't going to change day-to-day based on whether you do weights vs cardio that day

This may be because after a weight lifting session your muscles are "pumped" and are pushing against the fat more causing the fat to be smoother I notice this happens to me (especially on my bum ).

this is definetly useful info. I would never have thought of this, but seems to make sense to me But how would you determine when to bulk?...how much lose skin is too much?

I dont believe this is the reason - it should actually have more to do with being dehydrated. Well hydrated skin covers all those awesome little fat pockets far better than when it needs water.

I guess I should have started the statement with "In my own personal experience" didn't mean to sound as a matter of fact...sorry
However, in my own personal experience this is what happens to me after I work legs. My legs and bum "fill out" and get smoother, of course I also find my jeans to be much tighter afterward as well, so I take the good with the bad...

You can bulk at any time. I would definitely recommend it when losing fat stops making you look better or when you get too lean up top (or lower half depending on where you retain fat).
