Bad how? As in, will you wake up dead tomorrow? Unless you have a preexisting health condition - namely, some sort of cardiac disease - I don't think it will be drastically detrimental to your health. I believe it can exacerbate blood pressure problems, but if you're a pretty fit, healthy person, there probably aren't many health issues worth worrying about.
The more obvious problem is that sodium causes you to retain water. So, you may find that a diet high in sodium makes you look or feel "bloated." But I've never watched my sodium intake all too closely, and I probably consume significantly more than the recommended amount (I'm a fan of Buffalo sauce, myself), and it doesn't bother me. Your mileage may vary.

Sodium is not evil, contrary to my past beliefs. I began limiting my sodium intake after reading the dangers associated with high sodium consumption. I was to the point where I was consuming about 500 grams less than the recommended amount. I was also exercising profusely and drinking lots of water. Guess what...I wound up in the emergency room because of a severe electrolyte imbalance. Moral of the story is you shouldn't worry about your sodium intake as long as you are healthy and active and don't have any pre-existing conditions. Also like the poster above me recommended, use celtic sea salt (big gray crystals) instead of regular table salt.
