I always use the D Cleats, simply because they last longer than TD. You can always detach the spikes and reattach new ones. Td are molded so they'll wear off quickly if you use them for everyday practice...
Having said that, TD are lighter, and my teammates tell me they're much faster in them than in the D cleats. If you want to run faster, do buy the TD cleats, but only use them on gameday!

I'm not sure why people say this....

I've used both molded and detachable cleats for many years. Molded cleats last a lot longer then people say...the plastic used in the tips seems much better quality than in the detachable tips.

I find the lay out of TD tips more suitable, since there is a greater spread of them on the bottom.

and yes, they are usually lighter than their D/Detachable counter-parts.

    good choice.

Only time I'd wear detachable is if I knew the field conditions would be wet for a whole season, or if the field is poorly maintained(has tons of dirt and grass patches instead of a nice grass or artificial turf field). Even with nasty fields, I've still held up fine with TD cleats though.

The longer cleats on detachable work better for these aspects though.

not sure what you mean by "how much performance."

A lighter cleat helped me get a faster 40 yard dash time though(maybe it was just a placebo, but hey, it worked).

Wore vapor jet 4.2's for my 40 yard dash, and got a 4.93 at 5 feet 9 inches, 274lbs(hand timed at National Underclassmen Combine. Can post the online results for proof, yes I'm fat but fast lol), compared to averages of 5.03 (hand timed) when wearing Super Bads.

Oh lawd, I love talking about football cleats lulz(own multiple pairs).
