I thought I'd share this in case it helps other sellers/buyers....I've found that a lot of email inquiries are from out of state buyers. That isn't a problem when they are up front about it but a lot of them hide that fact and waste a lot of time before getting to the point. In my Craigslist ads, I've started asking buyers to include in their reply the date and time they are available for pickup. I've found it really helps. Some people refrained from answering the question even when directly asked in my reply and it's a good indication that they aren't a real buyer.

That's a good tip. Some just leave a code word to leave in the subject, but a pick up date/time sounds much better. I've been hit with a bot asking about buying my bench. Then a second email with the same exact wording, but replacing bench with couch haha. I figured that was a bot and skipped to the next.

It helps with the bots as well as the guys that take 10 emails before revealing that they want shipping or delivery. Answering 6 or so emails a day isn't that bad but when those 6 people each send four or more emails a day it can get out of hand very quickly. Since adding it to my ads, only the people who answered the question in the first email have ended up actually buying something.

that's a decent price. I bought one last week for $700 that was 10 months old and unused. after watching model d's go for $750+ within a day whenever they are listed on CL, I was ready to buy new from rogue at $890 shipped. its amazing how well they hold their value.

Nice! They are a simple build which is probably why they hold up so well. I've still go my eye on a black model d but for now this will work just fine.

$400 would be a steal...I think he'll get his $500 easily as long as it's in good shape. I've seen people try to get $600 for an R3.

$200 for each pair is $1.00 /lb. ,I can buy them for that at any of the local sporting stores.

The seller is asking $1/lb. If you buy CAP 300 lb sets for $180-200, the plates are cheap... subtracting $50 for the bar, that would leave $150 for 255 lbs which is around 58 cents per pound. They only cost more when you buy individually so it's often most cost effective to buy the sets.

Jesup Gym sells standard plates individually for around 80 cents per pound new but I've seen them advertised as low as 65 cents per pound. Of course, you're only going to get them that cheap if you pick them up in the store... and Jesup, IA would be a loooong drive for me just to buy standard plates.

Depends on model, condition, and if they come with a stand. I would say average with a stand is $400-$500 depending on if they are urethane etc..., $300 or less would be a very good deal.

In NJ you can get $500ish for the 90's, seen 130lb for $700 here.

Don't they sell for about $1100 new? That would be less than half price. How does that compare % wise to what the smaller sets sell for?

I'm guessing the 175lbers don't come up for sale that often.
