Yes it's a fully welded power rack, so for some this may be an issue.

1600 lbs of weight plates with tree and bar.

just got back from a 4hour trip i picked up 430lbs of plates and a plate tree for $160 bucks and they arent rusted over . so now im looking for a squat rack or cage. in texas where i live brownsville.

I found this marcy smith machine and found mixed reviews on it, my wife likes smith machine cuz she can roll the bar forward and doesnt need a spotter every time she does failure sets. what do you guys think....if i could find a cage i'd get one but cant find any right now unless i do a 6 hour drive so i might make a wooden one and use this smith machine. ......i talked him down to 380 so far

Buying it new or used is a bad decision. That price is terrible also. But if you really want it despite the prior advice, there's really not much point in asking for advice again.

The rack that deadwoodgregg posted is nice. Someone posted that the delivery was cheaper if you could have it shipped to a commercial address with a dock rather than a residence.

Since you live in Texas, you might be able to save on shipping if you picked up a rack from Texas Strength Systems. http://www.texasstrengthsystems.com/powerracks.html I think the $535 base price includes shipping (check to make sure) so you should be able to get it for cheaper with pickup. I'm not recommending this rack since I haven't used it but check the reviews. I posted it because it is local for you and it seems to be in the price range that you are looking at.

I suggest looking at those racks and reading through the Power Rack thread and search for reviews on the ones that interest you. When you narrow down your list, maybe make a new post asking for help choosing between the ones that you've selected.

It's 255lbs which comes out to $0.78/lb. Im into ivankos and like having high quality plates so I would buy them. General rule of thumb for used generic weights is ~$0.50/lb but these are def higher quality then generic. Just depends on what you want.

I think some of them have been repainted... maybe all of them. Ask the seller if they're marked "M series" on the back. If they're not, then they aren't machined.

My guess is that they are a mix of O2B and repainted O... probably not repainted OM but I can't tell for sure from the photos.

Definitely let us know how it goes. I've been thinking about getting some of these plates for awhile now, but haven't been able to justify buying more plates since I don't actually need them, not to mention the 4-hour roundtrip.

The commercial quality stuff is usually double my budget and that's before shipping, there's little available locally on E-bay. I know deals can be had, it just takes time.

Good luck on finding a commercial combo lat/row. I just don't see those at used equipment resellers. Stand alone units will be much easier to find if you have the space. Auction sites would probably be your best chance at finding a combo unit that may have come from a high school or small college. An auction site would also be your best chance of finding one within your budget.

Anyone know anything about this "Competition" brand power rack or recognize the picture? Is this some other common entry level rack but rebranded? As a total n00b, all my lifts (except deadlift) are below 200lbs, so this should suit my needs for a while. But if the rack is a total piece of crap I'll steer clear. Any advice would be appreciated.
