My guess is he bought them for 30 cents a pound and is trying to make a buck. One of the fitness warehouses in Chicago was selling all of their Troy plates at 30 cents a pound and they had thousands of them, I actually bought an entire set of Troy pro-style dumbbells from them at that price. You would be better off trying to buy the Ivankos from the guy in Round Lake in my opinion. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

I asked the same question about the same plates a page or so back in this thread. I never ended up contacting the seller. I assumed he was doing a little profiteering like ndmike99 suggested. Somethings aren't really for sale unless you're willing to pay the premium. I doubt it but it's possible that he doesn't realize that his price is high. I'd check out the store that ndmike99 mentioned (I'm interested in that sale also).

Pics of the boxes shipping label shows it must have been sitting stored for a couple of years. We're going to pull everything out of the boxes prior to finishing the transaction. He also agreed to let me pay with my business check. Todays Saturday so if once assembled it does not work I can place a hold and resolve any issues. I would not pay cash for a new in box unit because of the possibility of non-working or missing items.

I found a used sporting goods store near Minneapolis that has a used set of Ivanko calibrated plates for sale. The store wants half the MSRP which is close to the price of a new OM plates... I'm probably going to pass but I might make an offer. What do you guys think would be a reasonable offer?

There are a few items in the past few years I had the opportunity to buy but for whatever reason I had to pass on. Of those the calibrated Ivankos would be pretty high on my list along with a pendulum chest press, a sorinex back attack, and a westside barbell reverse hyper of those I really regret missing on. If the plates are in good condition and you can get them for a decent price I would try to grab them. What are they asking for them now?

I found a graveyard of commercial equipment today via a classified ad, literally hundreds if not thousands of pieces on 3 floors of a warehouse. Most of it was Cybex, Atlantis, Flex(?), and a section in the back of the warehouse full of Icarian. I snooped around for a few hours but there was just too much and I know very little about the various machines. Amongst the Icarian pile there were 2x Icarian 610 Power Cages and 3x 608 Squat Racks. All were in good shape and $300 each but I think I could score all for around $1000. Good deal? Also, there were several 408 and 410 benches for around the same price. I passed but think I should maybe go back. Thoughts?

I think the prices are great, especially for Canada, but here in NC the squat racks and the benches would be hard sells, the power racks would probably get $300-400. So I wouldn't buy them here to flip them, but if you are looking at keeping a piece or two and flipping the rest, after getting them for $1,000, I think that you'd do okay. Good luck.

Thanks. I was looking to get replacements racks for a few of our firehalls at work. Those 610 racks are the real deal. I'm not a fan of the U shaped upright vs. a full box tube but they are seriously heavy duty.
Considering the absolutely huge selection of selectorized stuff (hundreds of them) are there any diamonds out there I should keep an eye out for?()---() York Barbell Club #30 ()---()

I'm not real knowledgeable on the selectorized stuff but this thread might to be of some help for direct questions:

Somehow I missed your post earlier. The set goes from 1/2 kg to 20 kg but not any higher. It's about 227 pounds and he wants $400 which is half the MSRP off the Ivanko website. The downside is not 25 kg plates, the plates are chrome plated, and the cost relative to the cost of 200+ pounds of new EZ-lift plates. I may take a look at them to see if the chrome is well preserved. I'm ok with restoring painted plates but I'm not sure what can be done with chrome.

Gotta ask again, what would be a deal on this hack squat? Wish it was a combo with leg press as well, but if I can get it at a deal, then I will take it. He even said he would deliver it to me which I am only 6 miles away, so that isn't the biggest deal. But what would you pay for this piece delivered and consider it a deal? Is this even a known manufacturer or should I just look elsewhere? It was originally listed at $500, but has since been reduced to $300 (I assume very little interest which is why I am asking). Thanks.

Its a Streamline and at that price it would be hard to pass up if you want a hack squat.
From the "Cost no object" thread page 116 (no one discusses the hack squat, but you might find the comments useful):

Someone in my area is selling a Hoist Fitness Lat Pulldown and Seated Row (HF4201) for $350 (I don't have enough posts to be able to post links). This is the plate loaded one. The MSRP on these is $699.)
Good deal? I'm torn on getting this, or saving up and ordering a more commercial quality selectorized one. The only problem is that used ones almost never come up in my area, and I'm in Canada, so shipping would be outrageous to get one in from the US.

I think this is a pretty decent deal for me. I'm probably not looking to increase my bench to over 350 (I'm 250 and the weight capacity on the bench is 600 lbs). And I already have a 300 pound Olympic bench set, so I'd probably sell off the bench and keep the weights. The only problem is the space it would take. I'm wondering if it's possible to store this outside and keep it in decent condition. If not, I might just get it soon and think of where to put it later. So is machine/bench worth the $60 and the two-hour round trip, plus if I have to rent a truck? It's roughly $500 new.
