Finally got around to pulling the trigger on a deal last week. Earlier this spring, I had seen a guy listing something like 'exercise equipment', either in general or sporting goods category. Anyway, he didn't have any pictures in the ad. He was asking a grand for everything. He sent me pictures and had the following Parabody gear

Hip sled
888 Smith Machine w/gunrack & lat pulldown weight stack
FID 874 bench with preacher and leg ext. attachments
hex pairs 3 thru 40lb + single 45/50/55/60 plus two tier pro rack
300lb O set/bar + curl bar
6 extra 45lb plates

Seemed like a lot of cash but I kept the email and pictures. The more I thought about it, the more it seemed to be a great deal. I checked with him a month later and he still had everything so I got a truck and headed over. Everything was in brand-new condition. There was not a scratch on the most of the equipment and the dumbbells look unused. Had to make two trips with a pickup. Got all the gear except for the Smith last Monday night and got the Smith home today. Listed the hip sled for $600 and sold it in three days. Put the Smith together today. Because of the height, it barely fits in the garage. Plan to keep it for a while and see what it's like. It has linear bearings and is smooth as silk. It has a 7 degree angle and the pressing motions seem pretty natural. Squatting movement felt OK too. I already have power rack as my main set-up but this will be a nice change once in a while. Only problem so far that I noticed was when we re-assembled the Smith assembly, some of the ball bearings came out and will need to be re-set in one of the cylinders. Anybody have any experience or can suggest easy way to do this?

I recently bought that smith machine and had the exact same thing happen. I asked that question and was told that there are too many bearings in there for it to matter as long as the motion is smooth. Based on the way it goes together, I imagine it would be close to impossible not to knock a few out.
