Deal of the year??
Lady advertised a Versaclimber for $75.00 on CL. I didn't care if it worked, what model it was or if it was in pieces, lol.
I called her and she said someone else had already called. I offered $100.00 and said I could be there in a few hours, she accepted and I picked up a mint, fully functioning Versaclimber CL-1080.
Can anyone give me some details on this?? From what I can find it looks like a commercial unit... Has instruction on "If this is your first time using this...." And when I googled it I got something about it being commercial blah blah.
What could one of these fetch in your area? My prices are always through the roof being in CT, but with patience I have gotten several "steals".

I don't think I've ever seen one in RI, although I can't say it's something I think about looking for, either. Maybe I'll take a look to see if I can find one. It looks like a pretty good exercise. Like Brutus said, I would keep it as well (if it is in good working condition) unless you really need the money.

Atlas Stones and Husafell Stones for Sale -- Various Sizes - $1 (Cumberland County)
Strength Training. Strongman Training. Bodybuilding. Weight Lifting.
Lifting stones is one of the greatest tools you can use for overall strength building. Stones are better than barbells, dumbbells, traditional weights, etc. Lifting stones develops your legs, arms, upper back, lower back, shoulders and core. These workouts will help you develop functional strength as opposed to workouts that isolate specific muscles. Your whole body will work with stones. Strongman training and competitions are becoming more and more popular and Stones are a key event.
Lifting stones requires as much technique as it does strength. The basics of the Atlas Stone lift are, ground to thigh, thigh to belly then belly to shoulder depending on carry or platform being used. For the Husafell stone, it's ground to thigh, regrip and stand for the carry portion. When training, be sure to drop these on soft ground only. Do not drop on sidewalks, driveways, etc. They are fully weather resistant so they can be left outside.
Due to the weight of these stones, they can not be shipped. You must be able to pick them up or I can deliver locally for a fee. If you're looking for a different weight, contact me. We can make different weighted stones. We can't guarantee an exact weight but we'll get as close as we can. Cost is 50 cents per pound.
Cash sales only. All sales are final. Be sure to use proper form and safety while working with stones. We are not responsible for any injuries incurred during training.
Currently Available Atlas Stones:
120lbs - $60
150lbs - $75
180lbs - $90
210lbs - $105
Currently Available Husafell Stones:
240lbs - $120

I just bought this bench in white for $140. Mine came with the preacher curl attachment (I received the leg extension from a previous purchase). Mine was in good but not great condition - vinyl was scuffed but not torn, shows some signs of wear.
I felt I overpaid a bit at $140 - but I was hungover when I went and didn't haggle with the guy at all and my rack purchase I came out so far ahead I wasn't too concerned about it.
I was the best bench I had seen in my area in over a month so I felt I might as well take it.
Since then, the same model has come up in my area again and that guy is asking $200 for it so that is reducing my "regret" a bit.
The model number is 874. Here is one thread about it:

That is the older model without wheels, and it is a hefty bench so it may be troublesome to move. I plan on bolting casters to mine once I have a better setup.

Went and bought the thing. Would have preferred the wheeled ones but the color matched my black para-body 814 rack.
Bigger than I thought, managed to actually get it it into a honda civic without taking anything apart (getting it out was another story).
Anyways, so far I'm liking it. The conditions are pretty good. Some scratch in the bottom rear stand but you can't really see it unless you flip it over. The vinyl has one little scuffed area but otherwise pretty good. Sure beats the crap out of old york bench I had.

With your other purchase, I bet he would have come down in price. those are in good shape and you can always flip the rack for $25 or so.
Here is a deal that should give you all a laugh for a Friday.

Self tapping screws with a small pilot hole, four screws for each wheel. Drilling the hole was the hardest part (and not really "hard"). Had that bench for a couple more years and never had and issue with the wheels. Also....and this may be elementary....not sure, but the wheels should NOT touch the ground when the bench is in use position. They shouldn't engage until the bench is tilted up a little or you'll mess with the balance of the bench.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

Are wheels really that useful?
The reason I'm asking is another ad popped up for exact same bench but with wheels. It also comes with a york preacher curl for total of $150.
Just wondering if I should sell this one and get the wheeled one, or that's bit too much going back and fourth for little gain.
Thanks.

LoL......you're asking the wrong guy for advice on the second part. I bought 1700lbs of weights a year and a half ago...put them into the basement and moved the old ones out......now I'm in the process of doing it all over again! If its what I want, I'm doing it!
On the wheels, it really depends on the weight of the bench. I had a bodysolid bench for 10 years that didn't have wheels....I never even knew they made them with wheels till I got more into it and I never worried about it as the bench was so light. I also have a bodycraft f320 now that comes with wheels and even though its light, the wheels make it easier to maneuver. I also have an Elitefts bench that I would throw in the trash if it didn't have wheels because it weighs about 150lbs (I'm exaggerating of course).
If the bench that popped up is better or in better shape, I would do the flipping and not worry about the extra work because you'll forget about that effort in the long run and have nicer stuff to show for it. If it isn't an upgrade, I'd put the wheels on myself on the one you already have.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

Well, it is a bit more expensive, but I can get a deal if I buy a curl bar and some weights as well. Don't need any more weights or curl bar, but I figure I can sell those later and get the cost down.
I have no issue picking up the move it every week for squats (it is a work out on its own). Just bit concerned that if constant moving will be bad for the the bench. The bench is not too heavy IMO, takes less effort than a 50 lb weight.
Never used preacher curl attachment, I always did my bicep curl without them. No idea how useful they are.
Anyways, I think the guy might have already sold everything now. So moot point now. Going to use my current bench for now, if the moving around gets annoying I will stick couple of plastic slider underneath the feets. Slides fine on rubber mats and no invasive drilling required.Last edited by Dimeron; 06-25-2011 at 05:11 PM.
