Waking up at 3AM hungry as all heck...

    Hello...

Lately I have been waking up at 3AM and I hungry as all heck. I can't go back to sleep until I eat something.

I think its because I eat at regular intervals...every 4 hours or so.

I will eat a nice dinner...lets say like last night...chicken and veggies...then right before I went to sleep...I had 2 cups of cottage cheese and an apple.

Is till woke up at 3 AM hungry....so I had another 2 cups of cottage cheese and some mixed fruit. I woke up at 7AM and was hungry again. I had a bowl of cereal w/ Almond milk, an omelet (2 eggs w/yolks, 3 egg whites) and a banana.

Now again...at 10:30AM...I am getting hungry again. So....does this prove that its because of my 4 hour interval eating?

How long have you been eating every 4hrs? Total kcals?
If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way.

    For about 4 years....

As far as Cal goes...I am trying to stay around 2500 or so...unless I get more physical...like if I play paintball on the weekend or some other activity like basketball or a pick up game of soccer.

I am regularly working out 3 times a week with high reps and Cardio 2 times a week.

I am not bulking...I am staying lean and trying to lose fat.

Eating enough fiber and pro for satiety?

Could be from the increased physical activity. Are you you logging your kcals? You could be undershooting that 2500 quota. And as a result, your body is sending you these hunger cues. Folks either severely undershoot kcals when estimating or grossly overshoot. No way of really telling unless you log your kcals. Give it a go for a few days and see if you're really hitting that 2500 mark and adjust accordingly.
If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way.

Try ZMA, anabolic properties are dubious but it definitely helps me sleep.

Just try to take as close to bed as possible at least 30 an hour before any food and at least an hour after food.

Might be a placebo, but hell if it works it works.

No, I'm saying it's probably normal to be your size and being hungry.

Completly agree. When I used to not log cals, on my cuts I would undershoot cals by at least 1k im guessing and on the bulks at least 1k over, thus leading to terrible results. I have been logging all my cals for about 5 weeks now and Im seeing great results already. OP, I also recommend you start logging your cals if your not already.

Before I go to sleep, I cut a 1oz piece of cheese and put it on the nightstand, around 3AM I wake up because I got used to my son(only being 15 months old now) getting up around that time to cry for a bottle, and I eat that piece of chees which keeps me till I wake up to go to the gym.

OK well I can try that. Not a big deal.

I just don't think I am coming up short. I eat a nice breakfast everyday. I bring a huge bag of food to work with me every day as well... which I eat all of before I leave work. I eat Veggies and fruit as snacks...as well as mixed nuts, multi grain breads...etc...etc. I eat a small salad almost every night with dinner. you should see the way my GF cooks for me...its like a 7 course dinner every night....I have a little bit of everything...I've actually felt like I eat too much for dinner most nights.

I work out on Sun/Tues/Thurs with Mon/Wed for cardio. I eat alot of food...I only use supps for pre and post work out.

After every workout I have an ON whey protein (30 grams of protein) shake. Pre-workout I will have a soy/egg white protein (25 grams of protein) shake. In these shakes I will throw in 4 blueberries, 2 strawberries, 3 raspberries and one banana. For sugar, I will use honey in the pre workout shakes and gatorade powder in the post. Oh and BTW...I also add 2 Tablespoons of powdered flax.
