Was warming up with squats after extensive warm-ups. Squatted the bar 10 times and proceeded to put on 135. On the 3rd rep my lower back, the top of my hips tightened up to the point where I couldn't continue with 3 more reps. I rested stretched and continued squatting light to try to loosen it up. I ended up having to call it a day and the top of my hips on my lower back are still tight as ever. I just finished inverting for 15 minutes and could hardly bring myself back to upright. I'm about to roll over a tennis ball and pvc pipe, any other tips on what I should do? Any of you guys experience this and how long does it generally last? I need to squat and hoping I can do it tomorrow.

I might have experienced something similar. I got lazy with my form on squat and ended up injuring my lower back for about 1-2 weeks. I had the same tightness in my lower back right above my hip like you described. I realized that I wasnt coming up from my heels and instead leaning forward, and using my quads/calves more than my glutes/hams.
I just took some motrin and subsitited other excercises til i could use my lower back again.
