    yeah, its anything from 10-30lbs above the weight of two dumbells, depending on experience with the bar

    Dudes, don't think you can equate them like this. If you never barbell bench, your barbell bench is going to suck and vice versa. Muscle adapt to exactly what you put them through. Plus, you'll have slight differences in strength curves, starting resistance points, etc. I've trained by myself my whole life, so I depend heavily on dumbbell bench for total fatigue. I can put 125's for 3-5 reps with a much deeper stretch and starting resistance point than a barbell, but would be lucky to bench more than 315-330, since I'm never able to go that heavy training by myself.

    It's all how you train, so a 75 lb dumbbell press is exactly that, a 75 lb dumbbell press. Get on the oly bench and see what you can do.

    yeah this. I can do way more DB then BB cause I just do DB more. if someone were to do BB more, then they obviously could do more on that then DB.

    Just dieting and following Layne Nortons routine. This is my final cut week. Next week for the next 12 weeks = clean bulking! woohoo! Cant wait to eat

    As for the equation, I dont do barbell cause im scurred... My spotter is in Basic training.

    When he used to work out with me I did 155 5 x 5. But I also DB chest pressed just 65 for maybe 10 at that time. I could throw 65's up for a while now.

    I do 80 lb DB's 3 sets for 6 and my barbell right now is 205x6 for 3 sets (after warming up, I usually do ever exercise for 3 sets).

    So 75's for 10-12? I'd say you can lift 205 for at least 6 times.

    thats one excercise I dont do, but have been wanting to.

    I recently added Hack Squats, bent over BB Row, Lunges, and Romanian Deads to my routine. I had always done military press, bench, squat, and deads.

    I maxed out on barbell at 275 a couple months ago. I don't have too much experience with dumbbell flat bench (Did incline for a few weeks as an assistance exercise), but I was messing around one day and I was able to get 100 pound dumbbells for 4 or 5 reps. Pressing it was pretty easy, the hard part was holding it...I was shaking like a leaf...

    I was reading the DB Bench uses more muscles as well as stablizer muscles. My current issue of Muscle and performance also said the same thing. Not sure if its bro science, but feels good believing it.

    Edit: Above post kinda agrees with said theory. With the DB's you just arent as stable, so more stablizer muscles are used. This past week I had a hard time stablizing my 75's on my final set, and actually couldn't get it up... Felt bad man. But I usually do it first and had actually done DB Sh press 1st that day, so my shoulders were pretty gassed, as I had complete my 5 x 5 routine for them

    If you don't train Barbell then you will find it's equivelant to a 150lbs bench, same as the dumbells combined. If you had trained barbell first then your DB would be weaker.
