American Cancer Society Football Run Charity Event

    Hi all,

Although I may not be well known around here, I wanted to run something by you guys.

I am a part of Sigma Nu Fraternity (Epsilon Rho Chapter) at Michigan State University.
I've been a part of this fraternity for two years and after digging through some archived files this year I discovered an old tradition. Our chapter used to do a thing called Football Run. This event is as follows:

Every year Michigan State University (MSU) plays the University of Michigan (UofM) in football. The game alternated stadiums each year. This following year (Fall 2010), the game will be played at UofM. The run consists of the members of my fraternity and one of the sororities on our campus renting out two buses and taking side roads from East Lansing (home of MSU) to Ann Arbor (home of UofM). While the buses take the sideroads, they drive very slowly on the shoulder while our members run the game ball alongside the bus. The trip goes from late the night before the game and we run all through the night until the early morning of the day of the game. We are working with UofM to see if we can have a ceremony of on of our members running the game ball into the stadium before the game (the archived records showed evidence that this used to happen). The run works as we make sure at least 10 people run at all times (usually more run though)... this way people can get their rest on the bus.

The archived records of the event show this as being the Largest Philanthropy Event in the Big-10 Conference when they used to do it. I plan on leaving my mark and bringing this awesome tradition back.

We have fundraised over $1000 already (and will be raising much more, as we haven't been throw 95% of the possible sponsors). All proceeds (after bus payments, etc.) go directly to the American Cancer Society.

All I ask is, if you'd like, to donate to the event. It's a great cause, and should create many memories for myself and all members included. Any donation is appreciated and I'm hoping that this event can spark back a once-great tradition.

Thank you for your time for reading through this, and PM me if you'd like more details and/or to make a donation!
