    50$ Krylon Car paint job

    Anyone else ever do this?

I bought a 1000$ truck a few weeks ago. Its a great truck but marked down because it has no paint, its just primer....and...different colors of primer. lmao.

I don't have alot of cash, and tired of driving around in a nice truck that LOOKS LIKE SHYT.

Anyone ever hear of a krylon paint job? or rustoleum? 3$ for a can of it at home depot. about 10-12 cans total for a good looking cheap paint job.

And you get to do all the prep work yourself too, so no crappy overspray/underspray and fish eyes from the 99$ maaco summer crew.

My friend did this to his truck and it looks niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Been holding up for the last year and a half too.

yes U Mad that i'm not rich and can't afford 2000 paint job? opinions on this cheap as hell (40-80$) paint job?

    ^^^ Rustoleum / Krylon paint job ^^^

that car still looking good after 2 years.

    after 2 years

2nd pic taken on sunny day in june. First in december. Different lighting.

Go for it, but for for black. And when people ask why it isnt shiny, just tell them you were going for the flat black look.

    I'm doing Satin Black.

I'm a noob when it comes to car painting this will be my first but i do know to MASK MASK MASK! and take all trim off etc. I have my friend who did his truck helping me and his truck looks LEGIT like everyone compliments it all the time. So surprised to find he painted it himself for sixty bucks.

Can anyone explain what a clear coat is?
Or anything i can do to make the paint job last longer?

I don't want it to shine like a limo. i actually DO WANT the flat/satin black look. I'm not a fan of the shiny black unless it's on a really sick car like a vette z06. but not for my truck.

Does the clear krylon PROTECT or does it just make it shiny?

Or to "protect" do you just use a **** ton of layers of paint?

i've read like 100's of pages on this a few years ago. for $60 you won't get a better paint job, it just takes some time and dedication.

So the clear coat = shine

So i don't want that....But is the clear coat protective against weather? or is Krylon already resistant to chipping/weather/bad stuff/etc

Its a 1997 Dodge Dakota mid-size single cab pickup.

12 cans of krylon spray paint going to be enough for the job you think? i'll probably take more with me just to be safe.

it will chip if the paint has nothing to bite into or you put too much paint. Thats why light coats are best, even if you don't cover the metal the first time and can still see the primer.

research. type "paint prep" or "wheel restoration" on google. Most people use spray cans for that ****.
