Alternatives to creatine for energy boost pre-workout

I will be cycling off creatine for a month (after my first month of creatine, I gained 10 lbs. but my scale is inaccurate so it may be more or less) because I plan on going one month on, one month off, etc. So I was wondering... What are some good foods or drinks to consume before working out that can give me a temporary energy boost? Someone told me that the energy boost of creatine is just a placebo, so I was thinking there's probably some natural ways to get that boost also.

creatine is not a stimulant, so that energy boost was in fact a placebo effect.

I use universal nutrition shock therapy (contains caffeine and nitric oxide) highly recommended! Gained 10lbs+ in each exercise in first week using!

Drink coffee before your workout. or if you arent a big coffee fan drinking orange and eatting an apple will give you a little boost of energy.
