Hi,
Three weeks ago i started the one hundred pushup challenge to build up a bit of muscle endurance and its not working like the website makes you believe it should,
I completed week 1 which went ok on the 3rd column but the second week sort of went wrong from day 2. I managed to complete all sets apart from day two and three's fourth sets.
I then took the exhaustion test again to find i could only manage two more pushups than before which would mean that it would take 77 weeks of training to complete the 100 which is alot longer than the program says.
Now im on week 3 and supposed to be on column 2 but failed badly on that today so have started again from week one.
Can anyone recommend anything else i can do help increase the number of pushups quicker?
Thanks
p.s. I will be contributing to the One-million Push up Contest

77 weeks? I'm assuming thats a typo, because the program is designed to take someone from 1 to 100 push ups in 6 weeks.
The routine is designed to scale based on your abilities. If you aren't succeeding in column 3, cut back to column 2. If that doesn't work, back off to column 1, not week 1.
I don't understand this thread at all.

nope if im improving 1 per week then its 77 weeks left
Yeah but i found week 1 column 3 is the same as week 3 column 1, i attempted week 3 column 2 and decided to go back one more when i thought i might as well go back to week 1 as its the same from that point on.
I can see this thread can may get confusing with all the weeks and columnsLast edited by fredted40x; 05-07-2010 at 08:22 AM.

Weekly. GTG would be another option but I've foung the end results to diminish quickly with that approach. (I've used it for chins). Still an increase but after a period of settling into less frequency.
My method here is basically just to improve endurance and get in lot of volume without grinding yourself down. It will translate to big pushup number gains over a relatively short period of time.Last edited by SwiftyX; 05-07-2010 at 08:53 AM.
