    Midnight Snack

What is a good midnight snack to have without worrying about putting on fat? I can only take in some many protein shakes per day..

    Thanks.

Yogurt is bad if you are trying to keep off fat. It releases too much insulin, thus preventing lypolysis. Fat Free Cottage Cheese is much better. Tuna and whitefish are also good, or a lean cut of chicken. Stuff like that.

those lowcarb bars contains sugar alcohols. They shouldnt trigger insulin but from what i heard one time it does (fitnessman). Don't know it for sure, someone on keto should test it for us.

I would think that this snack of course would depend on your goals, if cutting, suck it up if bulking, I would say a nice mixture of slow digesting protien and fat, or carbs is a good idea, and if maintaining, either slow digesting protein alone, or add some healthy fat to the mix. I am like the others and see those little egg whites as a quick easy snack, with low cals, I like to throw a little cashew butter in them, and pop them in like a truffle

    Talking

IMO the best choice is a small p/f meal,of which quantity varies depending to if you bulk or not.

For example when bulking the meal has about 200 kcal,of which 100 are fat and the other 100 protein, and when cutting it has 100 kcal only,of which half are fat and half protein.

I have two arguments an that small solid p/f meal:

1)The fat makes the protein absortion even slower, and it is good fat,so eat up!

    2)I love olives

Yeah J-bro I',m greek.I live in Athens.Have you ever been in Greece?Greek Summer is awsome!!

I woke up in the middle of the night yesterday and couldn't fall back asleep, so I got out of bed and grilled up some steak, and then I slept like a beast.

hmm I thought i was the only one who woke up hungry in the middle of the night all the time. These damn cutting diets are killer. As for a midnight snack, i dont think any choices are good. you are not supposed to eat 3 hours within bedtime, and certainly shouldnt eat if you wake up in the middle of the night cause thats when your metabolism is the slowest.

I get up every night not because I want to, but because I have horrible need to piss. That's what I get for drinking water before bedtime. And I don't really crave protein when I'm up in the night - I crave sleep and relief - but I force myself to down it anyway.
