A website you should be aware of
www.spokeo.com
This is a site that aggregates (collects) personal information and acts like a juiced-up yellow pages. Its not an opt-in site; that is, the information is already out there. You should check it out- go to the site and put your name in. I was not pleased with what I saw. There is an opt-out feature on the main page. You need to copy the url of the page that has your "listing," then paste it in on the opt-out page and follow the instructions.
Then again, you might find this site incredible neat and useful, and you can subscribe to it. As for me, I have an unlisted phone number because I value my privacy.

I didn't think I did either then I put in my full first name and I came up (Bradley instead of Brad) and there I was. But they got some stuff wrong on mine too. I'm not in my 60s and my interest's do not include sports. (unless, of course, we're talking about female canola oil wrestling) They have me listed as a Scorpio and I'm a Leo (y'know...cuz I care sooo much about what people think my sign is) My house is 6 years old...not a 110 years old. But I'm a little freaked out by what they did get right especially the fact that my wife is the "decision maker". How the fuc% did they know that?! (or are they just playing the numbers on this point?) They have me as the "head of household" though...nice to be recognized I guess.

What concerns me is opting out of that single website doesn't prevent another website from doing the same thing. The real question I want to know is how to cut off the information that they're using.

Wow they got all sorts of stuff wrong. Says I'm still married to my first wife (whom I divorced over a decade ago), and that she lives with me in the house I've only been in for 6 years. It also claims I don't own my home - okay I do pay a mortgage, but the title is in my name.
I guess that's a good thing. Since my home is not in the USPS database, they say I live in a Post Office Box hehe!
On PIPL it was interesting reading how I was shot to death while acting as a good samaritan trying to stop a crime.... hehe.

People that have visited me where I live say I have the best of both worlds (within city limits but feel like you live in the country) so if that is below average then so be it.
Occupation: Clerical/Service Worker - I'm a DBA. I'm a DBA in linkedln as well - so I don't see how they consider that clerical work.
There's two sets of parents in the house that was built in the 1940's. Actually there is one set of parents living in this house that was built in 1895 with a huge addition built in the 1940's. No central heating - hmmm, the several thousand dollars I had to spend for the central heating furnace was just a figment of my imagination.
Notice that Spokeo will want you to pay for credit and wealth information.
