So I threw a lizard into the web of this massive spider (in my backyard).
Wondered whether it would eat it or not... first thing it did was SUCK THE BLOOD out of it's tail! So that's a yes. Biggest web building spider I've ever seen.
Here are pics...
Sucking blood
Sucking more blood
Winding web around the lizard
I'm scared... I also took a video, might put on youtube later.
Here's my response from page 4 about people calling me a dick for doing this...

yes i did know that and ive come to terms with it. ive also researched all the spiders that live in my area, and there really arent many big ones besides wolf spiders and hobo spiders. both of which ive encountered and been very afraid of. passed out from a hobo spider in my sink one time...
im very happy though, because since i moved into my current residence (a fraternity) i have not seen a SINGLE spider inside this house (2 years), which is strange because its dirty and has doors open all the time. i honestly think the environment is too toxic or something for them and they just dont bother with our beer stained EVERYTHING

that thing is to f*ckin hyoooge. if i saw that outside i would either run away like a bitch or if i had a weapon of some kind i would dispose of it on the spot cuz i never know when one of those things could run up the back of my leg when i let it live. if i found it in my house that thing would get a whole can or Raid.
