Using heavy bag for aerobic workout

I'm looking to add aerobic my workout. I currently only do weight training. I'm considering a heavy bag workout. I'm thinking along the line of 3:00 min sets maybe x10.

Would this be enough of an aerobic/anaerobic workout to cut fat or should I look to something else. I know that most of this will depend on the intensity of the workout, I'm thinking all out hard punching rounds.

Goal: looking to drop about 6~8lbs of BF.

The other option I'm looking at is a stepper maching, but I don't know if they really work @ cutting fat.

    Thanks for any ideas... KarlJay.

That sounds good mate. Only thing you might want to start at 3-5 rounds and add a round each time. I do judo and honestly I'm usually wiped out after 3/4 rounds.

    ^that

if you're actually putting in work on the bag, it'll be very tiring. you'll do it and see, and figure whats best for you starting out.

listen. i used to do martial arts for a long time, practiced all these different types of striking, etc.

and i would find heavy bag work to get boring really quickly. i dont think you will be able to stick to it for long. i certainly would not.

Yeah I personally dont think its such a good idea unless you have a boxing coach to show you what you're doing.
