Can I join the military? (eyesight problem)

I have 20/20 vision in my left eye, but 20/60 vision in my right eye and its uncorrectable. I wanna join the military after college, many of my family members were in it and I sorta feel like its my duty to serve my country for at least a few years.

I'm smart,(1380 math and reading on SAT) so I could possibly get a non-combat role, I am in good physical condition now, and would be in great physical condition by the time I tried to enlist.

Is there any way I could join If I declined vision insurance or something?

Thats the problem, I can't pass the test, your vision has to be correctable to 20/20 I believe. I mean I see fine, the optometrist told me that my good eye compensates for my bad eye, I can drive fine and everything. What about non-combat roles, or something?

Ok, maybe I was reading something wrong, maybe thats only for combat rules. I thought you had to have 20/20 for any position. I figured it was to cut insurance claims or some bs.

The only way you'll know for sure is to check with a recruiter in the branch(s) you're considering.

20/60 isn't very bad (corrected to 20/40 is the usual standard), but it's strange that with only slightly poor vision in that eye, it can't be corrected with glasses...

Its something to do with nerve connections, glasses and surgery won't fix it I was told.
