Is it bad to do cardio 7 days a week?

I usually do it 5x a week during weekdays, but am thinking of stepping it up to weekends as well. Is this bad for my muscles, to not let them relax?

    Thnx

I would not advise it. I'm sure some people will say you can, but it's not good to go every day without giving your muscles rest.

I cycle and run pretty hardcore (long distance cyclist in the summer), and I remember I wanted to go daily when I first started. My coach said, "no way." So, not suggested. Maybe if you have a bad day/weekend with eating then you could go 7 days straight, but then take a day off and get back to a normal weekly schedule where you incorporate a break day.

I wouldn't do it. I've done it a few times and the 6th and 7th cardio days of the week were a disaster. I do 5 and 6 days of cardio a week. The first day after a break is almost always my best, and the last day before the break is usually the hardest.

Nothing like a Monday workout for me.

Depends on a lot of factors, the intensity of the cardio being one of them. You shouldn't do HITT but 2-3 times a week but if it's a low-impact workout, you easily do it every day (more than once in a day, even - if we're talking about 1hour @ ~3mph).

Also consider your age and overall fitness level and things along those lines. A younger more fit trainee can get away with more than an older unfit one.

i was actually wondering the same thing.

i've been really pushing myself with cardio, and letting my body let me know when I need a day off. i ended up going strong doing 4 miles of cardio (40 minutes) for 16 straight days. My first day of rest was yesterday, felt some soreness and general fatigue and decided it was time to take a day off. Guilty that i took yesterday off, I pushed myself to run 5 miles of cardio this morning. For me the motivation is the number, i've done nearly 70 miles of cardio in 18 days, and i'm seeing changes in my bpm and the elliptical is already pushing me to go higher in resistance level . This combined with a very strong diet, and proper supplementation and I feel like my goals will come in time.

I was doing a 7day a week, 2 times a day for a few months and loved it but all the other factors in my life were right/no stress

I couldnt do it now as i have a stressful life unfortunately outside of the gym right now.

so what im saying is you need to weigh up all the other factors and see if you will recover
