bread
Has anyone stopped eating bread..why..and what do you eat in place of that especially if you want a sandwich?

I don't eat as much bread as I used to because it's not all that satisfying and I'll retain water a bit when I depend on it too much. Sprouted grain breads are pretty fantastic, though. They're heartier than more processed breads. Some people can't get over the more dry texture, though.
In place of bread, I'll eat things like brown or red rice (some variety that still has the fibrous husk), sweet potato, some variety of white potato, beans, oats...there's all kinds of good stuff out there.
If I want a sandwich, I eat bread. There's something magical about a pre-workout protein shake and PB&J sandwich when you haven't had anything like that in a while.

I don't eat many grain carbs myself. I eat Ezekiel bread when I do (as Amanda said, its a sprouted grain bread). They make English muffins that are awesome toasted with cheese, ham, mustard. I don't miss regular bread at all, but I do crave crackers sometimes.

Unstoppable!
I was a bread-oholic, but after not having it for so long, I just don't care for it anymore and would rather get my carbs elsewhere most of the time... Anything that can be in a sandwich, usually makes a great salad
However, if I DID want bread, ezekiel is wonderful! Once in awhile when I'm wanting like french toast that's what I'll use...

Ezekial bread that is toasted until it's really crunchy = faboo croutons for said salad.

No, I keep 2 slices a day in my diet...there is no reason for me to cut out bread.

I'm kind of a bread addict, so aside from whole wheat or Ezekial for breakfast toast with eggs, I haven't been buying bread lately. I have no self-control when it comes to a good baguette! However, I recently discovered Alexia frozen whole grain rolls and it is amazing! I just pop one in the toaster oven (they're 90cal each) and I get my bread fix with dinner and I'm not tempted to eat more since the rest of them are in the freezer instead of sitting on my counter getting stale! Happy Michelle! haha.

this is what I do too. I do 2 grain carbs a day I tend to like wraps better than bread. Today I had taco shells

I've noticed lately that when I do eat bread..100% whole wheat that I'm tired about 20 minutes later.

I don't do bread because of stomach issues. I had hernias after my second baby and anything that bloated me pushed on the hernias and hurt. In addition, I seemed to be getting more bloated than usual eating bread so now sure if a sensitivity was also developing or what, but I cut bread then. Did not go back to eating it because I actually feel better without it.
For sandwiches, EVERYTHING tastes good wrapped up in lettuce. Meatballs, egg salad, whatever. If I am packing my food to bring someplace I just put my sandwich filling in tupperware and have the lettuce separate so it does not get soggy. Or lightly steam some collard greens and wrap sandwich fillings up in that if it needs to sit for a while in a cooler. And for carbs, I like to get most from non-grains, but I do tons of sweet potatoes, veggies + fruit. Will also do oats but only a bit in the morning bc to much of that bloats me too.

I use lettuce as wraps. I don't think there is anything WRONG with bread, except that it's a "trigger food" for me. I've been known to walk to the bakery for a (warm, fresh) loaf, and arrive home with a empty bag of crumbs. When I eat it, I just eat too much.

Do you use the Romaine lettuce? I did that tonight and put a turkey burger in it and it was pretty good..I've never done it this way.

Seeking Perfection
I have cut down on bread for sure. I use flatouts, Joseph's pita breads, things like that. I try to get something that is whole grain and has a fair amount of fiber, protein, etc.
That being said, there is nothing like a pb&j on soft wonder bread for a treat!

I find with bread I just want to eat more and more and more so prefer not to have it at all.
