Brown Rice Substitute
Ok, I know a lot of ppl are eating brown rice, and need to use spices, etc in order to take out the "blandness". Today I cooked quinoa. Wow! It's just as easy to cook as brown rice, but it has flavor, AND texture!! Sorry if this thread seems ghey, it was just a nice surprise to find a substitute for brown rice!

Strive for perfektshun
I usually mix all my foods together like rice veggies and chicken all chopped up and mixed together, so i dont have a problem with it.
My coworker goes on and on about quinoa so even though i havent tried it, i wont becuase of her. She also has the body of olive oyl from popeye and tells people the reason that most people are overweight is because they eat too much protein.
I am sure you can see where my bias comes from.

I eat both, but find the rice to be much tastier than quinoa. Nothing some spices can't fix though. What I like most about quinoa is that it cooks up faster than rice.

I hate brown rice. Only eat Basmati rice, myself.
I bought 2 boxes of quinoa about a month ago, but haven't tried it yet.
Keeping my carbs down, these days...

Taste and texture wise, Basmati is a great stand-in. We usually have it 2x a week. One of the few good things from that part of the world (IMO; not a political or religious statement at all).

Getting younger every day
There is brown basmati too. I love it and there's nothing like the smell of basmati rice cooking.

The Coffee Guy
The key to making good tasting quinoa is to make sure to rinse it. Otherwise its slightly bitter tasting.
Eat right, exercise, lift weights, get 8 hours of sleep.

Ahh one of those .. I'd bring BLT sandwiches to work for lunch and eat them right in front of her face.. then take some bacon fat and spread it on toast..
oh and make sure you tell her you love animals .. cooked in different sauces

LOL
I would also bring a Venus Fly Trap plant to work and feed it hamburger and tell her I'm watching to see the vegetable get fat from all that protein it's eating.

what does that mean?? "more nutritional benefit" ?
they both have nutrients but they are different grains so you'd get the most by eating both
one has more of one nutrient and the other more of something else
the only perfect foods are ice cream and bacon

I'd feed her the vegan lady
I would take all vegan and vegetarians and put them on an island... without any health food stores
just wild nature, lets see how quickly they start hunting or raising animals for food.. and lets see how many can survive the first winter

from my understanding quinoa is better than brown rice cause of the lysine and its got a lower gi impact. Somewhat similar in nutritional info (carbs/pros/fats)
kinda what im asking about basmati - does it offer comparable nutritional benefit... why would one choose basmati over brown rice..... taste? health benefit ...etc....

what silliness.. eat both if you like them
in a balanced diet these are silly questions
