You clearly are the most wellrespectedcutthroughalltheotherbull**** nutritionist on the net. I look no farther than you to answer a question for me, or direct me to a knowledgeable source.
It's rather simple...I want to know what supplements you support taking that will aid me as a bodybuilder and wont be a waste of money. I am a broke college student, and I don't want to be suckered into all the bull****. I have done research on both your blog and website and have yet to find what I am looking for.
Thus far, I have been following this article...
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/south8.htm
-BUT-
This guys suggests using glutamine and BCAAS which as I understand are found potently enough in whey protein and is not beneficial to buy them. So I question what I should take from this article.
Obviously, I know protein. Again, keep in mind that I am a broke college student so getting everything I need from nutritious whole food is just not feasible all the time.
What do you suggest?...
or if you have already covered this topic countless times before, where can you direct me to?
Thanks for the help!

I can't remember where I read it (maybe his book, which you should get when you have some spare cash coz it's awesome), but I'm pretty sure Alan suggests protein powder, a "cheap multi" and creatine monohydrate. That's it I think.
Other than that just eat and hit your macros and calorie intake each day. It's being a part of the Red, White and Green that makes me a Rooting Machine. And when you feel my mighty Stallion, you will know you have been with a true Italian. :D

I remember a podcast several months ago during which he mentioned that if he was forced to take 5 supps, he’d take a multivitamin, protein powder, fish oil (if you don’t eat fatty fish regularly), creatine, bone-building mineral calcium/vitamin D/ magnesium.
I think this is the link for the podcast I was thinking about

click on mp3 download and you can listen to the entire interview.

I knew I missed one.
Fish oil is the other one he recommends.
However he stresses that none of these supplements are compulsory. If you can hit your daily protein intake without protein powder, then don't buy it. If you feel you are getting big and strong enough without creatine, don't buy it.
Common sense has to prevail, don't buy **** you don't need. Some people get big on no supplements at all.
Edit: BTW, I just read the OP again and he is definitely anti-BCAA supplementation. He feels it's a waste of money if your protein intake is sufficient. It's being a part of the Red, White and Green that makes me a Rooting Machine. I can also tell you that he recommends adding supplementation as a means to break through plateaus. If you're already taking all the supplements that are worth a darn, and then you plateau - then you've got nothing but training techniques to turn to... Try to resist resorting to supplementation until the point when it's needed to continue progress.

Yeah, but you have to mix them with chocolate milk to get the full effect.

Na seriously, I lolled at that post, but you're just gonna confuse the OP by saying stuff like that. At least post links to the videos so he can see them for himself lol.
