Yep me either. That's a good take on things though, I think I made a couple of good guesses(that you were of foreign descent and that your family was high achievers) and deserve some reps though.

Maybe, maybe not, I can promise you that making more money sure as hell has made my life pretty easy. I can pursue all the hobbies I want, take holidays when and where ever and dont have to stress about making it to next weeks pay check.
More so, I would rather work my butt off for 45 hours a week to fund my time when Im not there. The two rules of life, never waste a hard on and never trust a fart.
I'm impressed, and I'm not easily impressed. Oh wow, look, a blue car.

Yeah I don't know why I argued in the beginning. I completely agree that working hard will bring success. And I think it's somewhat unreasonable to do something you love for life, but if you can find something that you can put up with day in and day out, that grants you the lifestyle you want,
That's why I originally wanted to work in finance. I would put in ridiculous hours, but get rewarded for hard work.

We are a family unit, and to be that we need the best structure avaliable, and if that means that my wife is at home until the kids reach school age, so be it.
Kids need structure and discipline, and that comes from one of the parents staying at home.
I personally want kids to be raised by those that have them, not child care workers to afraid to discipline them for legal reasons. The two rules of life, never waste a hard on and never trust a fart.

I think being able to make large amounts of money from playing poker since the age of 17 has really hurt my will to do hard work.
I'm now close to graduating my university degree. I'm making around 150k/yr playing poker and any job prospects related to my course would likely be paying around 40k/yr when I first come out.
I don't really have a need for large amounts of money, and live a pretty frugal, simple life. But, working for the man for far less money when im used to setting my own hours is going to be weird...

I agree with the hard work but then again there are many factors involved here. I have worked at different jobs since I was 17 so my resume is coming together pretty lengthy. I dont brag about anywhere I worked but my ultimate plan is to get as much money as my potential can allow it. Not for anyone but for me as im a bit materialistic. Yes id love to have family and kids but I also dont want to be bound by money ever. And that's what my goal is. Might I be miserable? Yes but I can come home to a great family and my cars and bikes and have a great retirement plan.
I've worked in retail, office jobs, inspection, sales and currently work in construction as a laborer. Sometimes the pay was great and sometimes its not. Some of the times I worked i needed money some I didn't. But I look at it all as building myself with a better set of personal interactive skills and hard working mentality as well as physical capability for when I actually graduate the university program im currently attending. I have a lazy personality and I acknowledge that, and that is the main flaw I want to work on. I acknowledge and want be more productive and improve. Laziness never got me anywhere but having connections and the ability to just jump into work (regardless of what it is) in my opinion will shape me into a better person.[A.W.P] Anti White-Knight Police Force

Um, make your own way. Personally I don't want to follow that way, so I'll do what I want to do with my life. So far it's going great, not going to say it's been fool proof but you have to adapt to everything to comes your way. Too many people follow a "cookie cutter" lifestyle and wonder why they hate their lives.
