    4 Protein Shakes too much???

    I'm currently in a bulking phase and these are the macros I get from a combined four shakes every day..My shakes are pretty clean, just oats, whey protein, and water. (don't drink milk)

    1710 Calories / 232g Carbohydrates / 136g Protein / 29.5g Fat

    I aim to complete my macro needs by eating this much

    1790 Calories / 200 Carbohydrates / 130g Protein / 50g Fat

    Total macros equal:

    3500 Calories / 432 Carbohydrates / 266g Protein / 79.5g Fat

    What is the downfall of getting the majority of my macros from shakes? I know everyone always states that you should get most of your calories and protein from whole foods, but that's just not realistic for me. I can't afford it, let alone have the time to try to cook that much each day. So, would this negatively affect my health? Would it be a waste of time? Not help me reach my goal? Can someone break it down to me.........

    I'm 6'0 155lbs with a goal weight of 185lbs......

    It's fine. It would be better from a nutritional/health perspective to get more whole foods as protein sources, but the truth is it's not that big of a deal.


    More important is the question of how or why you don't kill yourself eating such a bland-ass diet. Weak-sauce, dude.

    It is important to have variety in your diet. Make sure you do eat lots of vegetables and whole foods (avoid processed foods like pasta and bread). Do not eat junk food. Try to cut out salt and sugar as much as possible. Have some variety in your shakes. Today I am making a shake with steamed sweet potatoes and rice dream, hemp, a test booster, cinnamon, ginger a little honey and almond butter ftmw! It actually tastes good. I add some water for consistency and am hydrated for the gym

    A little here and there is fine (it is a flour product just like bread). Not many are as strict as me but I don't thrive on an all or nothing approach just well disciplined moderation
    Unfortunately it's my main carb source everyday. Brown rice just doesn't do it for me. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

    Try root vegetables, they are the healthiest source of carbs on the planet: Sweet potatoes, parsnips, potatoes, turnip, squash etc At the very least cut back on only having pasta and mix it up with root veggies

    wow. I've been limiting myself to no more than 2 per day (pre or post wo & 1 before bed) The broscience on here says that the body can't process to much whey so no more than 1-2 shakes per day.

    I know Dave P has lots of shakes per day too, i'll have to dig up his shake thread.

    you are jacked so I guess the body can process lots of whey per day.

    Do you mix anything in with yours like Dave P & Forge, or just straight up whey shake?

    I'm worried if I just have a whey shake meal I would be teaching my body that protein is the preferred source of calories and then my body will eat muscle when it needs calories.
