This is strange, I don't know if you can go by visual, because I had a DEXA scan a few months ago and I came out to 16% BF. The woman in that picture at 17% looks a lot leaner than I am, unless she has used body composition manipulation techniques, something isn't right there.

She used a simple dexa scan - no manipulation techique involved.
Remember that your overall muscularity will be the underlying determinant as to how 'good' you look at a specific body fat. For example - a very thin female (low body weight) - may well have a body fat % of 17% but look a lot higher than this as they have relatively little mass all over and don't have the underlying mass to gain that definition and shape for that "aesthetically appealing look" of the female in the first post.

Hiii, Noob here too.
Not any pics yet but I will work on that...
The worthless hand held devices put me between 23% and 28% BF. The Navy measurement method puts me at 24%. As I am 48, the hand helds get even more deceiving as it compensates for age for loosing muscle-mass and adding bf. But I have lifted weights since I was 18 and actually have added 10 lb of muscle over the last year. They just dont work but, hey it gives me a range.
I have just come back from 6 mo off due to injuries from overlifting so I have a bit of an uphill battle and cant wait to get my body back:-)
Will take before/after pics:-)

New to this forum!
Weighed 105 throughout high school, went to college and over the years gained about 50lbs! Within the last 3-4 years, I managed to lose most of it. I actually lost all of it and then recently gained about 10lbs back. I workout with a fitness class regularly. I use to run quite often too, about 15 miles a week. I just can't seem to get toned up though. The last time I took a test to check my body fat%, I was told 20.2%. I'm not sure if that's right considering I feel much fatter than that. Attached are two recent pictures.
If I could get an estimate, that would be great!
Also any advice would be great

weight in march was 112, weight this week was 107, but pics were after carb up so weight may be higher. I dont weigh after carbup.
Like i said, my definition never shows in pics, plus i suck at taking my own pics. I have to set the camera on a table and then set the timer, in the march pics, my hubby was taking them and i am sure he is taking them at a different angles. i dont think i have two sets that match, lol!www.bikinisandbiceps.com
