Hello, I am new here, and new to weight lifting. I am 6 '1 170lbs. and I want to gain lean mass. I know they sell mass gainers to help so you dont have to eat as much. But I was wondering if I could just try and make one my self. It seems to me they just have fats, protein, and carbs. So could anyone tell me if I can mix one my self by just mixing 1 part whey, with 2 parts carbs ( like flour made from ground up oats) and just eating like 8 - 10 fish oil pills with it? I know it, its ghetto, but I am poor. so I dont have the money for a buttload of food or any mass gainers. any input would help.
thanks a lot!

of course you could make your own. why would you want to take 10 caps of fish oil though?
make this in a blender...tastes good and lots of cals
8oz of cranberry juice /or cran light or just 16 oz cran
mix with
8oz of OJ /or just 16oz OJ
2 scoops fruit protein (banana, strawberry) etc.
1 cup oats
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil *****
1 cup fruit yogurt (strawB,banana, raspberry) etc
1 banana and or diced pineapple
several strawberrys and or pineapple
lots of ice
OR
16oz milk
2 scoops protein powder (chocolate, vanilla, choc PB,) etc
1 cup oats
banana
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil *****
1 cup yogurt (choc,vanilla) etc
ice
split into two servings (morning/late afternoon /or night)

edit: im assuming because you want to take in fats? that much fish oil is way too much though, just add some extra virgin olive oil to your shakes.Last edited by nickolas388; 04-11-2010 at 01:05 AM.

LOL, don't worry bro. Its not ghetto to make you're own weight gainer shake! Most people on here prefer to make their own cuz you know exactly whats going in it and its alot healthier. Also alot cheaper! The premade ones are expensive as hell! When I'm bulking, I always make my own. I do admit tho that I always have a tub on hand for convenience, like work and things. But here's what I usually make:
2 cups milk
2 scoops choc. protein powder (I like a blend like myofusion)
1 cup ground oats
1 banana
2 tbsp natty PB
Put it all in a blender and enjoy!People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Thanks a lot for the speedy responses and the recipes, they sound really tasty. Haha yeah, I was thinking the fish oil to get healthy fats. ( because I was reading about mass gainers and they all have carbs, proteins, and fats) And I didn't know what to add for the fat. I never would have thought of olive oil, thanks.
