    Treating a Muscle Strain

Hey guys, so I am pretty sure I strained my lower trap (the part that goes onto your back). It has been hurt for a couple of weeks now and all I have been doing is just cardio at the gym. I am wondering what is the best way to treat it? For the past couple of days I have been putting a heating pad and ice on it, but should I be doing anything else? Thanks.

Yea kind of lol. I hurt it back on the 11th of March so I took of from the gym completely till March 22nd. There was a very slight pain but it had been gone for 3 days so I figured it was good so I went back to the gym. When I started going to the gym again I did not want to push it so I did chest on Monday, biceps on Tuesday, triceps on Wednesday, legs on Thursday, then chest again on Friday. But I guess I did something to it on Friday and the pain came back. So I just started doing cardio and it hadn't hurt for a while but this past Sunday, which was Easter, I was playing in the pool and again did something to it and the pain is back. I am still going to the gym but just cardio and the pain is not bad at all. When I first hurt it, back on the 11th, it hurt but not a crazy amount. But other than that first day the pain is not bad at all I just do not want to workout and make it worse.

Also, along with the heat and ice, I have been stretching it.

well the fact that you've re-injured it twice in a month is not that great... keep doing what you're doing and just be careful.
