    Forearm pain when ungripping bar

    Hey all,

I have recently began to see some nice gains in my curls, but I am starting to run into some forearm pain. I only really feel the pain after I am done with my reps and I let go of the bar. I have found that slowly letting go of the bar causes it to hurt less, but its still a pain in the ass. I know that a bone in your forearm bends, perhaps this is the cause and the pain is normal?

It usually happens only when curling.. I have never experienced the same pain with benching or any overhead pressing/pulling.

Any suggestions or insight on why this is happening and what can be done to prevent it?

    Thanks

Yeah heavy BB curls of any kind do this for me so I just stay clear of them. Have to use the DB's if I want to go heavy.

Ya I get that some times but I just deal with it...the pain is like 5 seconds then gone so not a very big deal. Your pain just must last longer than mine :/

Yea this has been happening to me lately as well. You can use EZ curl bars and see if that helps.

This happend to me when I first started. It went away after a while, I found that strengthening your forearms works well to eliminate the pain.

It means that your forearms are weak and they're tired afterwards. Happens to me after doing heavy deadlifts then doing heavy dumbbell lunges.

Work your forearms more and you won't feel the pain.

I'm no doc but you may be experiencing the beginning stages of tendonitis. If it persists, and especially if it gets worse, see a doctor. Don't mess with this; it could become a chronic issue if you try to 'work through it.'

I am going to experiment using a variety of grips. It almost feels like a bone pain, not really a muscular one. I've also noticed it seems to hurt more when on an ez-curl bar vs a straight one.

I got this and would probably still get this if I did BB or EZ bar curls.

I'd recommend only using DBs for a while, like hammer curls, they don't hurt as much.
