So just a little background info, I was an iv heroin addict for the past 3 years, Just celebrated my first year sober not too long ago. Anyway today at work I was thinking about what helped me fight the urges to use back.
Number one thing I could think of was how much I have achieved through the gym, And I know what a ****ing waste it all wouldve been to pick up again...
Just wondering what keeps all you other recovering addicts clean out there ?

If you have ever been addicted to drugs GTFIH
There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there.

Personally I've never been into smoking weed, It is though one thing that I honestly do not consider in the realm of addictive drugs. I know alot of people with familys, high-paying jobs, very well established who have been smoking herb there whole lifes and are still functioning productive members of society.
The same cannot be said about *******, heroin, crack, meth, pill addicts. Sooner or later that **** is going to catch up with you...There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. I've never been addicted to anything other than food. I have watched the lives of friends and family go into the ****ter, though. For three weeks, I lived with a stripper who shot up every day. All I can say is that if you choose to use it, you might as well ****ing kill yourself.

this very very debatable, Atleast for pills and heroin. I mean it is a proven fact that these chemicals will alter your brain. Pretty much you could be the most alpha brah ever and if you use it for long enough it will and does change the chemistry of your brain.
Now I think that you are weak minded if you kick the addiction, make it through the withdrawals and pick up again after that year or so it takes for your brain to return to normal.
But no drug addict truly likes waking up every day being controlled, Trust me if I shot you up with dope every day for the next 6 months you would understand. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction.
