The stats ARE horrible. I've proposed a rule against playing within 6 weeks after a shoulder luxation, a tape sale concept, and I want to have taping protocols installed. I also notified the trainer (who is awesome) about postural stuff I noticed (scapular winging all over the place, inferior scapular angles popping out everywhere as well.. I'm thinking that explains why we have huge shoulder injury rates. Compared to rugby league stats and rugby union stats I found, Hamstrings should be top. We have shoulders and ankles as our major issues + general rates)

Kinesio for ankles, I found a really good wrap that 's easy and quick and the guys I tried it on loved it. I still use athletic tape as well for ankles if that's what the guys bring and a guy wanted me to try a shoulder set up with athletic tape as well. I use athletic for thumbs as well, but most guys refuse to have that done up to now.

Whoop!
I decided to throw deadlifts back in, as I noticed I started having posterior chain issues and thinking back, thats been going on since I dropped them. My legs feel warm and wellblooded now, that's a great sign!
I did a measly 90kgs 5/5, but I love the feel! It's going to be a long road back!

So, I kindly replied that I did not want to meet up in my gym, because I would be answering questions for months on end about his presence, and I added that I wondered why, after over two years, we could meet up in a gym now all of a sudden. That it made me feel restless.

Got feedback on my snatches, the were good but not perfect. Not sure what to do with it, as the guy has hypermobile shoulders due to multiple dislocations, but I can see how far I get. I can't believe that deadlifts actually seem to be the cure to my injury! I LOVE IT!

I just switched exercises and will keep this up until then end of the year, regroup and rethink and start over. Deads are just over 55% load, so I guess it's not too impossible.
The trick with dead bugs is to really limit the range of motion to where you're starting to arch. Most people in my group LOVE to do a full range, despite having no capacity yet to do so. Also, the timing is crucial as is repspeed.

/begin Pilates rant - Dead bug looks like a Pilates duplicate to me. Same philosophies in practice but way simplified. I like it.
If you ever want to progress the exercise (when pelvis is stabilized as you increase ROM), here is an example. She takes it in a little too far in for my liking but she's also very advanced in her practice. For most people, I like the hip flexors to be 90 degrees, aka table top position, like the dead bug presentation. She explains it as the beginning to the stomach series because it promotes healthy digestion while strengthening the powerhouse muscles /end Pilates rant:

I do RDL's in warming up, and conventional for working sets. I've been playing with the thought of deadlifting t hem up and RDL'ing them down. But I really love deadlifting.

~300lb dedlift?? (i did the math in my head so i could be off. sorry if it's less or more)
still... for 90kg to be ~55% mind = blown.
i have a contentious relationship with deadlifts. i love them like a teen girl crushes on the badboy. they're so mean to me and it makes me pine for them even more.
also so glad i looked up deadbug. i'm gonna do them tonight instead of the situps. which i was sort of dreading doing.

Went to the rugby club yesterday. Came home frozen. I'm ambivalent about my stuff there. Happy to see they implement my recommendations, but it's frustrating that they don't tell me or don't give me credits for it. Also, the fitness committee does not include me, nor does the technical committee, and during their fitness hour last Sunday, the *******-captain did not invite me. THAT's stuff I want to do. I don't mind taping, or telling people what I think they should do about their injuries, but I offered to work as a strength coach at the campus club..
Furthermore: the club's organisation is VERY young and does not communicate well at all, which is frustrating. I have emailed them about me volunteering with them, and asked if we could have a meeting to outline my tasks and responsibilities. The secretary deleted it because she didn't know what I was talking about. [/sigh]
On a less frustrated note: offered one guy to help him change his style of running, made sure another had two guys there to tape him, and the third 'almost' luxated his shoulder: notified trainer and Good Captain, and recommended to refrain from playing this match.Last edited by Euqinom; 12-12-2012 at 12:17 AM.
