Question P90X - Dumbell exercise instead of pull ups? Need help!

I got P90X. However the programs contain a lot of pull ups, so my question is if I can do anything instead of these (still working same muscles) with dumbells (I don't have a band). Give me something at least, so I can still do another exercise.

I need help quickly as I have already started the programs, so help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

if i were you i would break down and buy the $30 pullup bar from walmart or target or make your own. pullups are one of the best exercises you can do for your development.

Dumbbell rows would be your quickest replacement. Not quite the same emphasis as pull-ups, but it is the closest dumbbell variation you are going to get. After this 'emergency' replacement workout, you should go invest in a pull-up bar.
Use the tools of the trade to help you. I use devices such as chalk for grip strength, gloves, wrist straps, lifting belts - if it helps you lift more, it's all good. - Ronnie Coleman, Hardcore, 2007 Triumph Books

Biggest question in bodybuilding: Whaddaya bench? As I've said before, it doesn't matter how much you bench; it matters how much you look like you bench... There's no round on stage that's the benchpress round. - Bob Chicherillo, World Class Physique, CMG

Do assisted pullups...stand in a chair and slowly lower yourself. Im assuming your p90x actually came with a pullup bar?

^^^ This. I use the Iron Gym Xtreme bar. It's $50, but you can find it for $30-35 at some places. Besides, the P90x pull-ups are more than just basic pull-ups... so several of the exercises I believe work more than your standard pullup. You'll benefit much more using the bar.

OP,

No dumbbell exercise can replace pullups. It's a vertical pulling exercise which challenges the lats/back in a unique way. That's the reason the program is using them in the first place.

So find a way to do them.
