PR in Squats !
Hi everyone -
I just wanted to share my leg workout from Friday .. I have been doing more of a high voloume squat workout since I finished my GVT about 5 -6 weeks ago .. but the past couple of leg workouts, i've been going heavy .. this past Friday, for some reason, I felt real strong and decided to load up the bar and go for a PR .. well, I did it .. 365 for 3 reps ! .. I haven't tried anything over 315 for quite awhile but something came over me on Friday and I just went for it .. I think I could have gotten another rep but some joker started unracking weights off the side of the squat rack as I was squatting and he distracted me .. normally, I would have been pissed but I just got my 3rd rep and I was pretty pumped ! Anyway, just thought I would share ... I've been away from the web since Friday and I couldn't wait to share this .. I don't really have anyone else to talk to about this .. my wife doesn't care much, although she tries to act like she does .. and I really have no friends into lifting, so you guys get all of my gloating for now !!

Excellent giantfan!Gloat away.Gloat,gloat,gloat.
The Squat is quickly becoming my favorite exercise. It's about to overthrow my lifelong favorite the Bent Over Row.
365 for 3 is quite good.I consider anything over 315 for reps most impressive, especially if it's a full ROM,ass to grass squat.
I hear what you're saying about not having anyone to gloat to.I dont either. My friends/co-workers could care less.I get a lot of this:
Guy:You go to the gym today?
Me:Yeah.
Guy:What did you do?
Me:Well, today was back day.I started with Bent Over Rows, then I...
Guy:Yeah,that's great.Any hot chicks there?

Thanks Gollum ...
Ass to the grass ... only way to squat ...
I like you're little quotes there ... I have a guy that works with me that wanted to start lifting seriously .. when I told him what I did, meaning my split etc, he said never mind, I'll stick to my every other day, full body w/o .. meaning 12 reps of everything imaginable, no weight increases .. I guess I should be happy he showed a little interest !

There was this new girl walk through the gym today with little shorts and I swear they were painted, on...wuka, wuka...
anyway, had to rest in the middle of a set to watch her, sweat dripping off me... taking deep breaths. I blame it on the squats.
I'm not usually one to perve, but sometimes, someone deserves it.

She made quite an impression on you, edster. She even made you forget what this thread was about...lol!
I'm very focused in the gym and I pride myself on not being a leering, slobbering idiot.
However...
My weakness is "squat booty".There are a few ladies at the gym who train legs very hard and have developed the most amazing,round,pumped-up bottoms I think I have ever seen. When one of them goes bouncing by I have been known to steal a glance
Poor giantfan. His thread got off topic.

You're welcome -- was it the enouragement about your squat record -- or the discussion of painted on shorts & squat booty? LOL

Yes, it must be May....everyone seems to be posting PB's
I prefer PB, Personal Best.

Love to hear those numbers Giant. It's the same way with my wife. She could care how much I lift or what I look like. It's way more exciting when you have people who care to share it with.

Thanks Bob45 - It is good to be able to share these things with people that understand what it takes to get there .. my wife is 5'6" and about 115 lbs .. she rarely works out and doesn't seem to gain an ounce .. she just started working out with 5 lb. dumbbells cuz she says she's getting fat .. I try to find the fat every chance I get, but can't find it .. I'll have to look harder I guess (LOL!) . although she tries to understand, she doesn't ... so with all of that, its great to have this place to share .. also, I credit this place and all you folks with keping me going .. I've quit smoking, done many PB's (how's that edster), since I've been here and knowing my past track record, I should've quit this a long time ago !

I'll let her know hib .. she is a beautiful woman who has no clue that people stare at her where ever she goes .. its what I love most about her .. but when it comes to stuff like her being fat, she makes me nuts .. she has little self confidence .. thinks her hair is too long or too short, thighs are too fat, eyes are too big .. yada yada !

LOL -- sounds familiar. I think my hubby has talked that way about me. I think I've been better at the self confidence thing as I get older -- I'm just not as concerned about what others think one way or the other.

Giant,
My wife is very similar. She is very self concious about her looks and the weight that she put on after our two kids were born. She has been dieting and walking faithfully for months and has done really well. In fact the other day she actually asked me about lifting. Maybe I can convert her.

Mainer -
I just got my wife to start working out w/ dumbbells but she won't go over the 5 lb'rs .... that's why when I tell her I squatted 365, she doesn't much care ! I'm going to keep trying to convert her too .. let me know if you can convert yours and then maybe I'll use your secrets !
