Ive read the stickies and they dont contain the information i require, it's all scattered around the forums.
Im looking to break into the fitness industry, but i want a higher education than a £500 course on being a gym instructor, i know many on this forum have taken that route and hats off to them, but its not for me. I wanna get into the science behind nutrition and training, so i can conduct my own research. Is Uni the only way? A Sports and Exercise Science course is obviously 3 years full time, but as im already in a full time job, my income would drop significantly to do this.
However, at college i did a BTEC national diploma in business studies, and although i achieved top grades, it means i did not achieve an A level in any sport or science related subjects, and so do not meet the requirements.
Is there anything else i could do? Or will i have to complete a 2 year Access to HE course in biological sciences/sports related subject.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Adam

Most of the successful trainers on this forum are self taught, and even the ones who aren't will tell you their appearance has gotten them further than their certs/degrees. If you don't have Six Pack Abs, Big Biceps, Strong Jawline etc you might aswell not even try.

I know what you're saying, but i just said that i had no intentions of becoming a personal trainer. The biochemistry behind training and nutrition is what im more interested in. I was just wondering if uni was the only solution, or private companies ran courses in this field. And anyone with dedication can achieve those qualities ^.

The person who trained me for my qualification did Sports Science & Nutrition I think it was at Uni and said it's BS, one of his clients/students is currently doing it at Uni and say's it's BS too and is doing the private courses also.
So it depends what you really want to learn.
My course was done by NABBA/GB Fitness, google it and give him a phone he'll give you a good insight into it.
