    Does Broccoli contain any carbs?

Does broccoli contain lots of carbs? im confused.

    on
    http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk...vegetables.htm
it says it only has 1.1g per 100g of broccoli

    but on
    http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/v...roducts/2357/2
it says it has 7g per 100g on broccoli.

i am sort of confused i did research on this forum and read that the carbs in broccoli dont get digested and just pass through your system. If that is true should i not include these carbs into my daily limit? will appreciate help

The carbs in broccoli are mostly undigestible fiber (half of them soluble and half insoluble), but there is a very small amount of digestible carbs.

There are so few digestible carbs that, while a baked potato has a glycemic index of something like 85, broccoli is at about 15. It takes at least half a cup of broccoli to have any measurable increase in blood sugar.

The digestible grams in various broccoli florets will of course all vary slightly, but it's definitely closer to 1g per 100g of broccoli than 7g. I would estimate it at 1g to 2g of net carbs per 100g.

I'd just say your probably going to be visiting your bathroom A LOT throughout the day, and your toilet is not going to be very happy

I've been complementing my dinner staples with broccoli and cauliflowers.. Both of them would equal to around 250 grams (125 each) and I don't know what it might be, but my gas has been smelling fooull. =p

That's a little over 2 pounds. I probably eat a pound a day of broccoli on top of all the spinach, cauliflower, celery, and cucumber . Not a big deal at all as far as calories & macronutrients are concerned...you'll just be getting lots of vitamin E, vitamin C, beta-carotene, anti-oxidants, iron and folic acid. But also lots of undigestible fiber...so prepare to fart a lot. And they'll be stank. Fiber farts are worse than protein farts.

2 pounds of broccoli, for reference, looks like this:

That may be true...but last night my legs almost gave out out after having cottage cheese & broccoli, and letting one rip. My girlfriend was across the room and screamed out in horror two minutes later.

I have a question. I have been counting broccoli as calories and carbs in my diet according to a website where i log my daily meals. Should i continue to do so or not? I'm a bit confused at the moment. Before this website i never counted spinach or broccoli, since I have been on it i have went with whatever the website says.

    1 cup raw of broccoli = 2g net carbs = 8 calories.

It's probably a bit under 2 grams, but it's safer to round up to 2 because, although the insoluble fiber passes right through, the soluble fiber is fermented by bacteria in the colon into short-chain fatty acids, which are indeed absorbed and therefore do contribute a tiny caloric value.

I was in a bar where someone was letting a few go - we suspected we knew the culprit. One of the guys said he had an app on his i-phone for detecting farts, and waved it around the suspect.
