    i keto diet all the time, a few hours of not eating carbs will not cause the body to kick into ketosis. Also, the idea of a keto diet isn't that it works because you don't eat carbs, its the lack of carbs that cause the body to form ketone bodies which cause the break down of fatty acids for a main source of energy. Not eating carbs is merely a way to stimulate that not the driving force behind the fat loss.

    what if one were to move their workout to a later period (night/few hours before bed) so, their next meal post workout were their last for the day, followed by 8-10 hours of more sleep, which would total like 12 hours until morning, a carb meal

    Your body uses fat as energy at rest anyway. Weather or not glycogen is there, the presence of glycogen during rest would get turned into adipose tissue(fat) so, in theory yes your of right.. but your looking at it the wrong way.

    Its really not this simplistic. I would say, for MOST people, it would likely lessen fat gain as well as muscle gain. I would bet the difference in muscle gain would likely be MUCH less than the difference in fat again. But again, this is making it really simplistic when its not. Everyone is different and we all have different metabolic types. I personally shed fat like a mad man on a keto diet, but I've seen people barely lose anything. All that sad, if you don't mind it taking a little longer, I think not force feeding hundreds of carbs after a workout is best. A moderate (30-50g) of complex carbs after a workout is likely best for building muscle and reducing fat accumulation. Studies have been conflicting, but many emerging ones show that adequate protein is good enough to stop protein break down. Realistically, some of that protein is being converted into glycogen so why not just go the direct route and enjoy a moderate amount of carbs anyway?

    Lyle McDonald offers a more comprehensive way to bulk like this in his UD 2.0.

    He also has a similar method of cutting (discussed more than the bulk). The assertion is that it will basically exterminate muscle loss on the cut. It's really strict and difficult to follow.

    I see the point you are trying to make, but consider this...

    You say it takes 2 days to get into keto, well not if you only went into your workout with such a low ammount of carbs that you have none left in your system by the time you are done lifting

    boom you are now in keto, but were also able to bust out a high intensity workout using carbs as fuel

    don't eat carbs after the workout, but do have some again the next pre-workout or even just for the first half of the day leading up to the work out and you will do this again as long as you ONLY EAT AS MANY CARBS AS NEEDED FOR THE WORKOUT
