Question on the proper use of keto sticks

    (Keto experts only plz)

I have searched this forum as well as many other nutrition forums on how to properly read Keto sticks. I have gotten many different answers. Here are the conflicting questions. I know that Keto sticks are not the most accurate way for testing ketosis, but I am very confused.

Answer 1: Keto sticks are most accurate when used when first waking up in the morning
    or
Answer 2: Keto sticks are most accurate when you have finished a workout

Answer 1: The Keto stick showing negative or trace (white/pink) for Ketones means you are in Ketosis.
    or
Answer 2: The Keto stick showing moderate or high (red/purple) for Ketones means you are in Ketosis.

It was explained to me by a friend that the Keto stick should show negative or trace when your in Ketosis because this means that your body is effectively using Ketones as energy, therefore, the ketones are being used before they come out in your urine.

I'm on day 7 of no carbs and my sticks are still showing moderate amounts of ketones.

    thanks for your help.

    Chris

As long as you show any sign of ketones whether it be trace or small you are in ketosis. In fact youd rather be in the trace/small part of the spectrum because it shows you are my hydrated and you are burning up ketones for energy which is the point.

Time of day will vary your ketone output but it doesnt really matter as long as you get some ketones on the strip.

Well on my 3rd day of no carbs I was showing moderate amounts of Ketones. Their is no way that my body shifted into Ketosis in just 3 days. My friend on the other hand stopped eating carbs for 3 weeks with no refeed and he came up negative on the strips. I tested my girlfriend who eats carbs on a daily basis and she also showed negative. So I dunno whats going on here.

I have successfully done keto for almost a year now and I have never shown up more than trace...I assume it's because of my level of hydration.
