do you have to do cardio to keep body fat low or is weight lifting enough?
and how much cardio?

It can be done, but it's not easy.
Based on my BODPOD BF test I had yesterday, I lost 5 lbs of fat and gained 2 lbs of muscle in 3 months.

if i were you i wouldn't worry if it is possible. what you should do is focus on losing fat and increase your protein. 100g isn't a lot. if eating 1700 cals gets you the 1lb / wk loss then that's awesome. keep lifting heavy throughout this time and one of two things will happen.
either you'll maintain muscle and lose fat
or you'll gain a little muscle and lose fat
both options are just peachy and it doesn't really matter as long as your not losing the same percentage of muscle and fat...then you'll just end up a smaller (not leaner) version of yourself.
