If I understand correctly, iron is an essential mineral involved in the transport of oxygen from the lungs to the muscles when physically active, so why do most multivitamins that I have checked out on the market not contain iron? Some even advertise themselves as being "iron-free". I am not an expert on supplements, and would love to hear any knowledge you all might have to share. Thanks!

Because healthy men should not be supplementing with iron, we get more than enough from regular foods...adding more in from a multi can be bad for health.
If you are a vegan or anemic you may need some, but a healthy man should avoid it.Controlled Labs Warder
