    First Comp questions

I'm doing my first ever comp in 2 weeks, its a deadlift only comp, which i thought would be a good start considering the deadlift is my best lift, but i have a question as to how far before i lift should i eat. another question i have is how should i determine what weights to use for my lifts..i have tried 555 on four seperate occasions, only two of which were successful, so im not sure if i should go for a weight that i know i can get, or to try for 555 again, which i may not be successful at. im competing in the 198 class. I also have a question on how to use the belt properly for deadlift, is it the same as when u squat. also have the video of me getting 550 but dont know how to put it up here
    my current stats are:
    Dead: 550
    Squat:405
Bench: not sure, havent maxed bench but last week i got 225x10, 235x8, 245x5

For weight selection - open with something you know you can get, go for something fairly difficult but already done in training for the 2nd, then go for a PR on the third. Simple as that.

Since your only competing in 1 event you can get away with a bit more, so I would do something like this if I were you..

525 opener- easy and quick a confidence booster.
545 2nd- there should be no mental challenge here, you know you can pull this.
+15 to 25 PR for the 3rd depending on your adrenaline and what you think you can pull.

I'd go a little lighter on the opener, especially since it's your first meet
