Name of Protein Powder: iForce Nutrition Vanilla Cake Batter Protean
What makes it so special?
This protein is very versitile. It uses a blend of Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Hydrolysate, Milk Protein Isolate, and Micellar Casein.
Mixability?
Mixes VERY well. I use it in protein pancakes; protein pudding and other recipes. Also, blend with oats for a shake & just the generic why & water mix.
Texture?
Never grainy. Very smooth. Good consistancy.
Flavour?
They have lots of flavors. All taste great.
My current favorite is Vanilla Cake Batter, which tastes EXACTLY how it's said- like a vanilla cupcake.
Also try, Red Velvet Cake, Vanilla Mint Swirl, Chocolate Truffle & Strawberry Creamsicle.
Cost?
Depends on the place you get it. I've seen it anywhere from $21 for a 2lb tub and $39 for a 5lb tub
Other Info?
Per serve - 120 cal, 6.5g carb, 20g protein
High grade whey. Casein blend keeps you fuller longer.
Love making different deserts with any of the flavors.
Overall: 10/10

Name of Protein Powder: GNC Pro Performance® Soy Protein 95™ - Chocolate
What makes it so special?
I'm of mostly NA extraction, thus lactose intolerant -- not really a huge issue as most protein powders have low levels of lactose and include some lactase for people like me. Unfortunately I also appear to be allergic to a milk protein (I'm told likely casein), given that trying Whey-based protein powders have resulted in my getting very sick, so milk-based protein powders and protein bars are out for me. This soy-based powder has worked well for me and not created any of the nasty side-effects I had with whey-based powders.
(As an aside for others with milk issues, Clif Builder's protein bars are also soy based and have worked well for me)
Mixability?
I use a Cuisinart cup mixer, with that the powder mixes very well. I can't speak to how it would do with a ball-mixer, but I suspect it'd be fine.
Texture?
Mixes fully, no gritty or other odd texture.
Flavour?
The chocolate tastes great to me, but I'm not particularly picky about such things.
I should note that I always mix it with three quarter cup of fruit for post-workout recovery, I don't think I've ever actually had it alone.
Cost?
$49.99 for 4lbs. As GNC frequently has half-off, two-for-one, and suchlike sales, I generally get it for less than that.
To be honest I'd like to get away from GNC, in general I find their prices for most things are insane, but as long as I buy in advance and thus can wait while they rotate through their frequent sales, the price isn't too bad. That, and my experience with whey-based proteins was sufficiently nasty that I'm somewhat leery of trying unknowns. Especially as a careful reading of the labels of several other supposedly-soy based proteins has shown that many of them do in fact include some milk product.
Other things? Added extra-special-ingredients?
Nothing special, as far as I know. One scoop has just a hair short of 5mg of BCAA, the rest an array of the other usual suspects.
OVERALL: 8/10
Overall I'm happy enough with it that I haven't put a ton of effort into trying to find a replacement. I'd recommend it for anyone who, like me, has severe milk issues that preclude using milk-based proteins.

Protein: vanilla cupcake batter or red velvet protean
Mixes very well, no clumps.
Ammmaaaaazzzziiiinnnngggg flavor. Anyone who I have given it to try love it!
You can add little water and still mixes well.
Although you think it can't get any better since its soo yummy, try mixing 5 ounces of water, 3 Ice cubes and blend. It becomes a smoothie!Pricilla Verona

Have been using Myofusion's probiotic chocolate for a while, now...and really liked it. Well, my son works in a health/fitness shop that sells protein powders, and they ran out. Didn't feel like going elsewhere for it, or waiting for it to come in the mail. So, I opted for syntha at his store. I've had syntha before, and forgot how great the taste is, oh my. ''Chocolate milkshake'' really does live up to its name. lol
Just add water, and it's pretty great tasting.

iForce Protean Red Velvet Cake! OMG this stuff is delicious. It's great just mixed with water but is fantastic with unsweetened almond milk. It is also really, really delicious mixed with oatmeal. I think my next trick is going to be to attempt some kind of cake/muffin with it.

Hi all, this is my first ever post on these forums... I noticed this thread and thought I'd submit my thoughts.
I'm quite new to fitness, I've only just started going to the gym again properly in the past week and have been eating well and drinking protein for about two weeks, but here are the two protein powders I've tried so far. I hope these reviews help some people.
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - in Double Rich Chocolate flavour.
Mixability? Mixes nicely in a shaker.
Texture? No grainy bits, but it is very watery.
Flavour? It's difficult to explain... the closest comparison I can give is that one scoop mixed with 250ml of water tastes like cold water with a teaspoon of cocoa mixed in. Kind of gross, to be honest.
Cost? My friend gave me four scoops to sample, so I didn't pay anything for it. I believe she said a 2.2kg tub cost her nearly $100.
OVERALL: 6/10. I can't see myself actually paying $100 for this. I know a lot of people really enjoy it, but it just isn't for me.
Dymatize Elite 100% Whey Protein - in Strawberry Blast flavour.
Mixability? Mixes really well, even without a shaker. Sometimes I just tip it straight into my drink bottle and give it a shake, still comes out nice!
Texture? Non-gritty. Nice and thick, too, which I love.
Flavour? Strawberry is the only flavour I've tasted, but it's so yummy! It's so good, I've been thinking of trying to make muffins with it.
Cost? Can't find it in stores around my town, a 2.2kg tub costs $75 to send to my door.
Other things? Added extra-special-ingredients? I don't really know if there's anything particularly special or amazing about it, but it tastes nice and works well for me. 25g of protein per serve. The only thing I'm a little wary about is that there are 130 calories per serve, but it doesn't bother me too much.
OVERALL: 9/10. As a newbie, I'll likely change my whey around as I get more and more into health and fitness... but for now, I really like Dymatize Elite and I'd recommend it to friends.

I recently got a tub of Dymatize Elite Casein in Cookies and Cream flavor and I am hooked! It has 24g of protein in only 120 calories per scoop. Smell and appearance aren't much, but it tastes good. Unlike whey protein which mixes to a thin beverage consistency, casein is best in my opinion mixed to a pudding consistency (this casein mixes very well, which is saying something since other casein are gummy and disgusting). It's so silky and tasty that it feels like a cheat dessert. And since it's casein, it keeps you full for quite a while. Highly recommended.

Labrada Nutrition Iso Lean Pro
Hey All! Has anyone tried Labrada Nutrition Iso Lean Pro?
It's their new protein, 110 cals; 25 g pro, 1 g fat, 0 g carbs
I'm a huge fan of the taste of their CarbWatchers Vanilla Ice Cream flavor but this is even lower cal/carb and higher protein so I was wondering if it was worth it!

TruNutrition Sciences Trutein Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup
What makes it so special? It literally tastes like a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. Perfect for contest prep!
Mixability? Easy, blends very well.
Texture? Thicker than some proteins, I have to add a bit more water to make it not too thick.
Flavour? Reeses Peanut Butter Cup!
Cost? $32 for 2.5 Lbs, $56.99 for 5 Lbs on Bodybuilding.com
Other things? Added extra-special-ingredients? One of the best tasting proteins that I've found. I would tell everyone to try this. They sometimes have samples for sale on their website - http://www.truscience.com/samples.html

PHASE8 by MUSCLETECH
What makes it so special - The thicker, rich texture and awesome taste! I can use this protein alone, bake with it, make awesome pancakes, pudding, and hearty oatmeal. It can also be used any time of day!
Mixability - It mixes really quickly and easily with water, milk, or egg whites (if making protein pancakes, as long as you add in a few tbs of water to thin it out)
Texture - Fairly thick, which I enjoy. It's thicker and creamier than other protein powder's I've tried, and makes for great smoothie's, or mixing with oats in the morning.
Flavour - More on the sweet side, but still smooth and not overly sugary. It comes in milk chocolate (my personal favourite), vanilla and strawberry. No aftertaste.
Cost - It's competitive with other brands that are of good quality.
Other things, Added extra-special-ingredients - MuscleTech has full disclosure of all it's ingredients so I know exactly what I'm putting in my body. Its made with 6 high-quality whey sources. Its a slow 8 hour time released protein which can be taken at any time of day which makes it very versatile and easy to use in any diet.

The protein I would recommend to anyone is SystemEngineered Whey Protein Isolate. Not only is this stuff clean, easy to drink, and almost entirely lactose free (98-99%) but it also is pumped up with all the BCAAs you would otherwise be taking a ridiculously sized horse pill for.
What makes it so special? It simplifies things. One LESS supplement to take with the BCAAs already infused into the mix. And it's a lot less difficult to the digestive system. Great for lactose sensitive folks (because, let's be honest, soy protein just doesn't do it like whey!)
Mixability? Blends well as long as the water isn't ice-cold. Ice after only
Texture? Fairly thin, not much water is needed for this protein.
Flavour? Strawberry is by far the best
Cost? $30-40 for 26 servings, 2 lbs.
Other things? As said before, BCAAsLast edited by lexibrd2011; 08-23-2013 at 03:43 AM. Reason: additional details

My Protein Drink Review
Hi all,
I am having great success with Shakeology Vegan Strawberry. I am losing weight and feeling great!
Here is my review and score:
What makes it so special?
Incredible superfood ingredients like maca, acai, and other special fruits from Peru.
Mixability?
Mixes extremely well and not clumpy at all!
Texture?
Not as chalky as most & I take mine with either rice milk or cranberry juice and ice; Very smooth.
Flavor?
I love the strawberry flavor. I am not a fan of chocolate anything since I am lactose intolerant & this is a delicious alternative.
Cost?
$4 per serving (individual pack or bag). I used to spend way more on energy drinks and now I am completely off that garbage...yay!
Overall: 9.5/10 If they had more vegan fruit flavors I would definitely give it a solid 10!!!Last edited by Emma-Leigh; 08-24-2013 at 04:49 PM.

Goliath Labs Whey Isolate, Wonca Chocolate Flavor
What makes it so special? Nothing special, I bought it because it was really cheap since it expires in a few months.
Mixability? Pretty bad compared to other products. The stuff I get off of canadian protein mixes so easily without a whisk ball thing. it was full of small clumps that I guess werent too bad to chew.
Texture? Nice at the bottom but clumps and foam at the top.
Flavour? At first its a nice chocolate taste, but then the other flavors hit you. Theres a weird coffee taste that sticks around, I still taste it while im writing this review. Some of you might say you like coffee taste but this is more like burnt black coffee. Also this sounds crazy but theres something spicy in there, I dont know how or why but its really weird.
Cost? It was like under $80 for 10 lbs, it was on sale on the website I use.
Other things? Added extra-special-ingredients?
OVERALL: 6.5/10 I give it this high because it gets the job done for what I normally use it for. mixing with almond butter and other things.

Right now I'm using Dymatize Elite 100% Whey in Vanilla and Gaspari Myofusion Elite in Peanut Butter Cookie Dough. Both mix perfectly and taste good in a shaker with water, but I like them particularly because they are good in porridges like oats, cream of wheat, etc - which is how I prefer to use protein powder.
I saw mention of Cellucor's Peanut Butter Marshmallow, which I want to try as well as iForce's Brown Sugar Maple Oatmeal Cookie which hasn't been released yet (their Red Velvet was amazing but dc'd).NPC Bodybuilder, Mother and Hater Extraordinaire

Lately, I've been liking a little cottage cheese after my workouts, or in the evenings. Packs a lot of protein!
From a supp standpont, I've already posted in here that I like Myofusion's chocolate Pro-biotic series. That's just great. Mixability is awesome, price is meh. There are cheaper powders out there. But, this is a really good one, my opinion. Whole foods are better, I believe...but for convenience, I like this for a quick pre/post workout shake. When I stray to try out other powders, I always come back to this one.
Phase 8 by Muscletech I'd recommend as well--chocolate.

AllMax Isoflex in Vanilla
Mixability? I find it mixes well in a shaker cup.. I add it to a lot of things though - pancakes, fruit smoothies and even my oatmeal. Oatmeal though it's a bit thick.
Flavour? i love this flavour. Just opening the tub and the smell... OMG. Nice vanilla bean flavour, it's delicious.
Cost? I got a 2lb at Popeye's for around $40ish.
Other things? Added extra-special-ingredients? Can't get over the amazing smell when it opens haha.

My nutrition shop gave me a lot of Oh Yeah Cookies n Cream samples the other day.
Just had a packet with strawberries, a banana, and trader joes green powder.... holy cow it is amazing!!
The consistency was awesome, the taste was on point.
My only hang up is that the big tubs are so, so expensive. Other than that, this is the best protein powder I have tried in a hot minute. I still need to buy core-fetti though... getting that with my next paycheck!

Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard!!
Mixes well - even without a shaker cup.
My favorite flavor so far is extreme milk chocolate - soooo good.
Has among the lowest $/serving so it's a great deal!
I take creatine and BCAA powder as well, so I've found that when you mix unflavored creatine and banana BCAA powder, it makes a chocolate banana shake kind of flavor. SO GOOD."To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily; not to dare is to lose one's footing forever"
